What to expect: If you are looking for granite counter tops and track lighting, this is not the place for you. When our reviewers talk about how wonderful the apartment is, think of an awesome apartment when you were going to college or for young professionals. It is very clean and one of the lowest crime rates in the city.
The neighborhood consists of houses from the early 1900's and many of the residents have lived here all of their lives. Some are working class, there are students and college professors. We all know each other and keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary. If you are from someplace where ethnic diversity makes you feel unsafe - please book somewhere else.
We are near the center of things. While many have described our apartments as quiet, we are right next to the main entrance to the zoo. Our backyard faces camels and our front faces the main road to the zoo. Typically there are few cars after the zoo closes, but if you are a VERY light sleeper you may be happier elsewhere.
Each apartment has its own exterior door with electronic combo deadbolt code that is changed with each guest. Late check-ins are not a problem!
This is an entire apartment with kitchen, bathroom, etc. There are no shared areas. 100% privacy
We live in the neighborhood as well and absolutely love it here. This house is close to everything and there is easy access to the major highways.
The Zoo has buses that come to it from all parts of the city. Being steps from the zoo, public transportation is a breeze
Other Things to Note
We have come to love this particular area. You often see joggers run by and it is so close to everything it is hard to justify driving.
No smoking and no cats. Well behaved dogs are welcome.
The location was not ideal. In a rougher part of Cliffton; however, that sad we had no problems whatsoever. But it was clean and did contain everything it said it did.
In a rougher part of Clifton? While it is not in the Gas Light District or in Clifton Heights where students tend to flock, our little corner of Clifton has a SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER crime rate than those two areas. Most of the neighbors have lived there for multiple generations and keep a close eye on what is going on.
Given that he said he "had no problems whatsoever", we have never had a break-in or any problems with cars - I wonder what Mr. Hartkemeyer bases his assessment on. Even the glass in our doors is over 100 years old, so obviously no break-ins there!
The house was more spacious and comfortable than I expected. Everything was equipped, which made me feel at my home. And the hosts always responded quickly. It was very helpful. The bus stop is very in front of the house. Even though buses came every 30 minutes, I could wait at the house and take a bus. Just minor problem was some noise from outside. The first few days, the road was under construction. But I totally enjoyed my stay in Cincinnati with this house.
My overall experience was very nice.
Brad and Priscila were great hosts. They always responding immediately to messages and I love their system of push button code locks. I had to check in extremely late and didn't have to worry about bothering the hosts.
The apartment is spacious and exactly as described. The weather outside was between 15 - 20 degrees overnight, but the apartment stayed cozy and warm in every room. The bed was comfortable and the two TVs with Direct TV was a nice touch.
The internet speed was fast enough for me to deliver large files (300MB) when I completed work at night.
The proximity of the zoo wasn't really noticable to me, except a funny moment when I heard a bird that was obviously not native to southern Ohio. It made me smile.
I was working at a location on the river, and the drive was only 12 minutes to get to the office from this property.
This would be a great place to stay for a small family who plan on visiting the zoo and want to save a lot of money in lodging costs.
Everything was as it said on the listing. The apartment was spacious and clean. It's close to things to do in Clifton and convenient to downtown. I briefly met the hosts when I arrived and they were very nice, they checked in by email while we were there to make sure we had everything we needed. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
The listing and photos were very accurate. The apartment was just right for the 4 of us. Plenty of room, nice kitchen and bath. Not luxury accommodations, but very comfortable. We never saw our host & hostess, but they always responded within minutes to my emails. We especially enjoyed the keyless entry system-perfect since we weren't always together and didn't need to share or lose a key!
The location is perfect-minutes from the University of Cincinnati and stores and downtown and almost inside of the zoo!
There's nothing really to complain about, but some larger glasses in the kitchen would have been nice-we only has juice size glasses (this is a very minor complaint)!
This apartment was perfect for our family. We stayed here for a few nights while we furnished our new rental. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and an easy and central location. The heating was on when we arrived and the owners were kind enough to allow us to send some packages ahead of ourselves and those were waiting for us inside as well.
Thanks for a great stay!
