What to expect: If you are looking for granite counter tops and track lighting, this is not the place for you. When our reviewers talk about how wonderful the apartment is, think of an awesome apartment when you were going to college or for young professionals. It is very clean and one of the lowest crime rates in the city.
The neighborhood consists of houses from the early 1900's and many of the residents have lived here all of their lives. Some are working class, there are students and college professors. We all know each other and keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary. If you are from someplace where ethnic diversity makes you feel unsafe - please book somewhere else.
We are near the center of things. While many have described our apartments as quiet, we are right next to the main entrance to the zoo. Our backyard faces camels and our front faces the main road to the zoo. Typically there are few cars after the zoo closes, but if you are a VERY light sleeper you may be happier elsewhere.
Each apartment has its own exterior door with electronic combo deadbolt code that is changed with each guest. Late check-ins are not a problem!
This is an entire apartment with kitchen, bathroom, etc. There are no shared areas. 100% privacy
We live in the neighborhood as well and absolutely love it here. This house is close to everything and there is easy access to the major highways.
The Zoo has buses that come to it from all parts of the city. Being steps from the zoo, public transportation is a breeze
Other Things to Note
We have come to love this particular area. You often see joggers run by and it is so close to everything it is hard to justify driving.
No smoking and no cats. Well behaved dogs are welcome.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
The hosts were great! My boyfriend and I were looking for something semi-private and they were exactly what we were looking for. If something was needed, I have no doubt they would have been available to help.
The apartment is exactly as described, and although we didn't have the pleasure of seeing the camels from the kitchen, it was a short walk to the zoo.
Also, there is a fully functional kitchen with all appliances and cooking necessities. This is great for mornings that you don't want to venture out for breakfast!
Parking was available on the street for the times we were there (after 6 pm on Friday to 3 pm on Monday), however during the week it looked like it would be prohibited, so there may be a bit of a walk to the nearest parking location.
This is a great location for my purposes, walkable to medical center. It is and older area, and like and older city, central houses are rickety. The important thing is it is spacious and clean. There is a second unit upstairs that is very creaky (can hear any movements) which is probably the only downside.
Spacious place with a comfortable bed. The owners were super friendly, helpful and provided a pack-n-play for our infant. (There's a large closet off of the bedroom that's perfect for it.) They also got back to us quickly when we had questions.
A couple things to note. On weekdays you can't park in front of the house between 3pm-6pm and the nearest parking is a little bit of a walk. Also be aware that you need to pull on the door when you put in the entry code otherwise the lock won't open.
I booked this apartment for an extended stay and it suited my family well. The host was friendly on arrival and prompt with all communication thereafter. The apartment itself was comfortable and clean.
The location was not ideal. In a rougher part of Cliffton; however, that sad we had no problems whatsoever. But it was clean and did contain everything it said it did.
In a rougher part of Clifton? While it is not in the Gas Light District or in Clifton Heights where students tend to flock, our little corner of Clifton has a SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER crime rate than those two areas. Most of the neighbors have lived there for multiple generations and keep a close eye on what is going on.
Given that he said he "had no problems whatsoever", we have never had a break-in or any problems with cars - I wonder what Mr. Hartkemeyer bases his assessment on. Even the glass in our doors is over 100 years old, so obviously no break-ins there!
The house was more spacious and comfortable than I expected. Everything was equipped, which made me feel at my home. And the hosts always responded quickly. It was very helpful. The bus stop is very in front of the house. Even though buses came every 30 minutes, I could wait at the house and take a bus. Just minor problem was some noise from outside. The first few days, the road was under construction. But I totally enjoyed my stay in Cincinnati with this house.
