We enjoyed the time in the island and spent our last 4 nights at this condo which was a great location but unfortunately it came with some issues such as the bathroom does not have a sink (legally it’s not considered a bathroom without a sink) and poses a hygiene risk of cross contamination from needing to use the only sink in kitchen while preparing food. The condo floor was not very cleaned. We were not provided with enough garbage bags consequently the bathroom and kitchen were "stinky" for our four day stay. A HUGE cucarach (approximately 1 1/2 inch long) waking in the wall worried me and the girls all night. The beds are very uncomfortable. The mirror by the entrance was improperly mounted mirror which almost fell on my one year old daughter's face and then the owner blamed me for damaging the mirror….The laundry facilities are far from the condo and coin operated, impractical and inconvenient.
This Guest Never contacted me about ANY Issues so this is all fabricated to support their mistreatment of the property.
The details the guest received states that they are provided with a starter Pkg of the supplies which Includes garage bags, as we do not supply those items for extended stays and they knew that in the info they received upfront but I don't think she read it.
The bathroom is legal for these units as the Hotel was transformed into privately owned rooms so this guest does not know what she is talking about and she is upset because Airbnb Agreed with me as they did not treat this owners condo with respect. The tile does get dusty due to the VOG. The Condo is very suitable and the Owners Just Purchased a New Sofa for it. This Owner Takes Pride in their condo.
I Would Not rent to this guest ever again.
Everything in the unit was great. At first, the wifi didn't work (shared with another unit) but Gayle was very responsive and solved the issue quickly. FYI - the parking is limited and first come, first serve. A couple of times when we got back late (after 9am) the lot was full and we had to find street parking.
Great location. Walking distance to all downtown Kona restaurants and beaches.
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. It was a functional place, that served as a great resting place for our adventure filled honeymoon. We really enjoyed the location and lanai (where we ate breakfast every morning). The building was old, but it well kept. The place was clean and had what we needed to make quick breakfasts, rest our head and get ready for adventures. The AC was great, and wonderful for the hot and humid Hawaiian nights.
The place had some draw backs and is better suited for one. The shower is really small. The bed is really firm, and was too hard for us (we woke up with sore backs). There is one sink which you share with the bathroom, so we had to brush our teeth and was our dishes in the same place (it worked but not our style). Of no fault of the owner- the parking was limited. We came back a few nights to have no spot.
Overall, I would stay in the place if you want a functional spot that is centrally located and would rather spend money on adventures and eating out!
The location was certainly great. I was traveling without a car, and many shops and restaurants were within walking distance. There are also plenty of tourist centers nearby to help you with booking tours or other activities during your stay. The Kona Shuttle leaves near the accommodation, and is easy to get around the area with.
The accommodation surely looks like what is shown on the pictures. However, I did think that the place could have been cleaner. My bed linen and towels both had other people's hair on them. There was only hand soap available, both in the shower, but also to do your dishes with. I brought my own soap to shower with, but obviously not to clean dishes with. The dishes in the cupboards were dirty when I arrived, that should be checked by whoever's cleaning the room for the next person. Also, upon check-out you had to leave the room relatively clean (dishes done, roll up linen and towels, take out the trash). It's not a big deal, but then why pay a mandatory 60 dollar fee for clean up?
I expected a kitchen, but it was more a kitchenette. No hotplate, but there is an electric pan in the cupboards. No water boiler unfortunately. I only used the microwave and refrigerator, which both worked perfectly fine.
All in all, I had a pleasant stay at the accommodation. The location is definitely the best part, and overall it's very comfortable to stay here. When you're staying in: there's a perfectly working air conditioner and van, tv has cable and many channels, wifi works fine in most parts of the room. Some work is currently being done near the apartment, but it didn't bother me too much.
The description states that it is a Studio and has a Kitchenette or Partial Kitchen it Has Never indicated there was a Full Kitchen as None of the units at this complex has a Full Kitchen and each owner puts in the kitchen appliances for each unit so they vary. If this guest had asked for a Hot plate I would have gotten her one as each guest has their Own individual desires. Honestly most guests Do Not Cook much when renting a Studio as most Studios do not have a Stove. ALL in ALL the we Try to attend to each Guests individual desires if they contact us and express that they would like something that is not currently in the condo.
We have to have guidelines for guests to follow upon vacating the condo otherwise some guests will leave them in horrible shape as that has happened in the past which is the reason the Guidelines have come from, Past experiences with some guests that left the unit a horrible Mess. Like they say, it takes one bad apple to upset the cart and so from them the guidelines have been developed. We Appreciate You Following the Rules and Policies.
Location was definietly the best part of this lodging. It was close to beaches, shopping, and restauants. I could go down the road in either direction and have a blast. The pictures are very accurate of what you get...the bathroom is attached to the kitchen though, which I thought was strange but it worked. It can be kind of confusing to get there (there are two driveways with gates) and the keys never really worked properly. The location was beautiful, very tropical, the air conditioning worked great. A word to the wise for anyone wanting to stay there soon, next door a GIANT church is being built and there was massive construction noise the whole time that gets started really early. I'd research that if you want to sleep in (there was no sleeping in). The pool closes early and they lock it up, so plan to use it during the day, never at night. It was good for what we needed it for.
What a terrific place to stay in Kona! Walking distance from two delicious bakeries, the farmers' market, the pier, the Palace, and located right across from the ocean. We saw a turtle in the tidepools on our first morning, walking to breakfast. Wonderfully landscaped, on the lanai you don't feel like you are surrounded by other condos.
