The 'apartment', back of my home with separate entrance, is in a quiet street. Enjoy room to spread, short walk to corner shops/restaurants, easy access to Top Ryde shops, Sydney city, Macquarie Uni, Ryde TAFE, Ryde Hospital, train stations, buses.
The apartment, really better described as a granny flat, opens onto a screened area and then a garden, the view of which from the living room creates a feeling of spaciousness and calm. As well as the main bedroom with two beds, there is an additional outdoor studio / single bedroom available to guests who need it. Guests are encouraged to discuss this facility before booking.
Guests have access to, and exclusive use of, everything pictured. You are able to eat meals inside or in the screened area and enjoy the garden. The clothesline is available for washing if required.
The kitchenette/laundry contains a washing machine as well as microwave, fridge and other electric appliances necessary to make a short stay comfortable. These include an electric frypan, toaster, jug, and two person coffee plunger. An electric BBQ is available in the screened area. There is a hairdryer, iron and small ironing board. I can provide a fold up travel cot and toys for a young child if required.
Interaction with Guests
As I work full time I do not expect to interact greatly with guests. I am available from late afternoon on most days and live in the front of the house which is quite separate.
This is a very friendly neighbourhood where people know and support each other. The address is about 2 km from both Top Ryde City and Eastwood, both of which have vibrant shopping areas and restaurants which are popular in the evening. Mid-way, a small shopping area is a three minute walk from the house. There you will find a Thai and an Italian restaurant, a take-away chicken shop, pharmacy, medical centre, small grocer, fruit shop, butcher, liquor store and a dry-cleaner.
There is very accessible public bus transport to Top Ryde, Eastwood and Macquarie Shopping Centres and Macquarie University and Train Station. The centre of Sydney can be accessed by buses which are a three to five minute walk from the house or train from West Ryde, Eastwood or Macquarie stations. Ryde Aquatic Centre is twenty minutes away by bus.
Other Things to Note
Macquarie University and Ryde TAFE College are relatively close. Sydney Olympic park, venue of many events, is only a few kilometres away. Ryde Hospital is within walking distance (10-15 minutes) and Macquarie University Hospital just a short drive.
Guests are asked to respect the quiet, family neighbourhood and not to smoke in the apartment.
Mary made us feel very welcome, communication was excellent. The accommodation was exactly as described.
Mary is very friendly and thoughtful. She's very helpful with our questions too. The listing description is very accurate. The neighbourhood was quiet and peaceful. We can walk to Top Ryde shopping mall which has many buses to the city. There's even a smaller shopping area nearby with few restaurants for dinner.
this place was very good for our stay as a family of fur adults. We were very comfortable and it almost felt like we were at home. Mary had left us some cereals, bread, milk, juice and so many things that we needed. It was an awesome stay and covered all ur needs. Mary even borrowed her iPad and chargers as we had no universal adapter. We will definitely come back for another stay. Thank you very much Mary. :)
Mary was an amazing host to us. She went out of her way to accommodate our needs, and was particularly good with providing a safe, stimulating and comfortable environment for young children. Her accommodation was ample big enough for our young family of four, was well-equipped for self-catering purposes and was clean and tidy. Additional linen and towelling were also provided, as well as weekly cleaning. Mary also graciously allowed us full use of the garden which was great for children in the hot Aussie summer. The neighbourhood was quiet and safe, with easy access into the city or the Northern Beaches. There is also a great playground within walking distance of Mary's house for children. We loved our stay and were made to feel very welcome!
Mary made us feel very welcome. She took us on atrip to show us where the busstops ,trainstations and nearest shoppingcentres were. The coffe, juice and fresh milk were much appreciated. Her garden is lovely and the enclosed area looking onto the garden was the best place to spend your days in. The nieghbourhood is quiet and beautiful.
Thanks for a wonderful stay and we will definitely recommend it ti those who want a home away from home.
This is a lovely, quiet place to unwind after a day sight seeing or working!
The bed is so comfortable, I will be changing my bed when I get home.
Just want to say 'Thank You' for accommodating us the last 7 weeks in your lovely cosy home. As a former Denistone resident, it was most convenient for me to get to Eastwood and local facilities in Top Ryde, Rhodes and Macquarie as everything was only a short drive. The kitchenette was adequate for our needs as we mainly used the microwave, kettle and toaster every morning. Even though our stay was quite long, we only managed to cook a few times as there were just too many local eateries to enjoy. Furniture and furnishings are basic but comfortable so may not suit those looking for modern 5 star accommodation. However, this is a well equipped granny flat which would suit a couple or small family.
My girls enjoyed their time back home doing lots of swimming down at the local club and the university. Trinity especially enjoyed the gardening sessions she had with you and Naomi. I'm most thankful for the washing machine and patio area for my laundry. Really appreciate your thoughtfulness to provide a starter kit like detergent, fabric softner, glad wrap etc. Thank you for being such a gracious host and making our stay so comfortable. We hope to stay again next year.
