"O Laranjeira" Pensão Restaurante is uniquely situated in Viana do Castelo historical centre close by the emblematical Praça da Républica. This vintage building has a well-referenced traditional kitchen restaurant, 7 theme rooms and 5 apartments (future project).
The 3rdLaranjeira generation decided to refresh the image of the Pensão – the oldest commercial building in Viana – by telling their family story, reminiscing Viana’s traditions and folklore.
We wanted our rooms to be an unforgettable experience to our guests and created a cosy environment and still maintaining its historical legacy.
Each room has a different theme: "Traje à Vianesa", "Eiffel", "Filigrana", "Lethes", "Santa Luzia", "Tapetes" (flowers street decoration), "Traje à Vianesa" (traditional costume) e "Vinho Verde".
Mostly traditional Portuguese cuisine the Laranjeira’s Restaurant transmit its visitors traditional flavours a cosy service and family ambience. Like the good old days!

Helena welcomed my traveling partner and I into her wonderful restaurant/hotel. The room was very nice with a SPECTACULAR view. I cannot imagine a better place to stay in Viana do Castelo.
My boyfriend and me had three wonderful days in Viana and in Helenas accommodation. Everything was perfect! The room and bathroom were clean, cosy and big enough for two persons, the breakfast was very good with all you need, the location of the pension couldn't be better, Helena herself and the family and staff which work there are very friendly - even her dog is very nice. So all in all we can highly recommend Helenas little hotel!
I can definitely recommend this place for staying in Viana. We very much enjoyed our 3-nights stay in Laranjeira's Eiffel-themed room. Helene really put some effort into freshing it up, the bed was comfortable, and there is a great view onto Viana do Castelo's mountain and the Santa Luzia church throning on it. This really is a place passed on from generation to generation and the whole Laranjeira family (including the newest, cute family member!) is extremely welcoming and creates a friendly, cozy atmosphere - from the breakfasts to tasty dinner at the restaurant which we also enjoyed.
Laranjeira is right in the centre of Viana with the nice, main square just around the corner.
Also, just opposite of Laranjeira is another must-do or rather must-eat: a confeitaria with long tradition and the most delicious "bolas do berlim" freshly served from 5pm (the queue is worth it).
We stayed two nights at Helena's in a "room with view" called Eiffel after Viana's metallic Fachwerks bridge. The room's interior was designed honoring the style of the bridge and we liked very much the lovely little details like the most fascinating lamp cable, showing how much thought has been put into this aspect. Althought pretty cosy, the room had all we needed and the "view" really deserved its name - in times with no fog. As other's mentioned, getting up is honored here with a lovely breakfast in a friendly and familiar atmosphere.
We came back later to try Helena's traditional portugese restaurant and found also this a very pleasant and tasty experience. As promised, even the youngest Laranjeira shared a smile with us.
We can fully recommend a stay at Helena's and will surely come back again next time we visit this region.
Es wär sehr schön und wir hatten ein tolles zimmer

About the Host, Helena
Hi! My name is Helena, i'm a portuguese girl who decided to embrace a family business in 2010.
My project is a traditional restaurant with 7 rooms in the old house of my grand parents. Grandmother still alive and they are my inspiration! My father is the 2nd generation of this business and an expert in welcoming people and serving food in the restaurant. My mother is taking care of details :) and Maria Francisco - the 4th generation - offers smiles to everyone, without exception.
We love to welcome people and give them the best in town. Good food, good wine, good atmosphere!
Come meet the Laranjeira's family.
I love... food and good wine, good conversation, traveling, to dance and to practice yoga :)
