We have four guest rooms, each fitted with a double bed. Our house is ideal to explore the world famous Port Wine region. 10 walking distance to a crystal clear mountain creek, we grow our own wine and have an organic olive oil production. Your car will enjoy secure parking on the premises and we are German speaking. While you will enjoy Portugals century opd traditions you will have at your disposal modern amenities. For breakfast we serve some of our own organic produce. We can agree on half board with excelent regional cuisine and our own wine and brandy!
We love children!
the house is in a little tiny village quite far from pinhao, not easy to find. the direction from daniel where not completely correct: the school is not recognizible, the name of the street was wrong. the house is clean and the lady is nice, even if she talks too much! the room was little, the bed the same (a bit short). the wallpaper old and stripped in some spots. considering the distance from the douro valley and all the wineyards the price is definitely too hight (even with the discount we get, but off breakfast)
It's truly disappointing that those who beg for a substantial discount, as Alessia did, are those that then come up with misleading claims. The location is shown on Airbnb's Google Map - so clearly it should be easy to find, as it is by other guests, and it is in walking distance of the Pinhao river... On the other hand we have left Alessia a neutral review, but after reading the above don't recommend her as a guest.
Nice place yet too private and hard to find
It is the home of Daniel's mother who is a lovely lady who speaks only Portuguese
We spent three nights at Manuela's house. It was authentic, very cozy, with a great view of the countryside. Manuela's home cooked food is great and served with a lot of love. We recommend trying her optional dinners.
However, she doesn't speak English at all, so prepare yourself for some sign language (the experience boosted my Portuguese). Also, no Wi-Fi and closest Internet cafe is 10-15 minutes drive away.
We recommend arriving during the day as the house is tricky to find after dark.
Our stay at Daniel's mother's place was really great.
The place was in the middle of the vineyards, close to the river where we could sunbathe.
Daniel and his mother were extremely nice and helpfull !
Manuela cooked for us the best portuguese dinner.
Thank you so much for everything.
A definitely unique Air bnb experience. Great house in a beautiful location. Manuela is extremely accommodating and will fill you up with home grown delicacies. Recommend having a car as you might be abit stranded otherwise. Beautiful rivers and lashings of local wine!
If you want an honest to God, true, authentic Douro Valley experience, then you've got to go hang out with Daniel's mom for a day or two. She lives out in the vineyards north of Pinhao. The view from our room was nothing but grape vines and we watched the sunset over the mountains. But you can get that in a lot of places in the area. Manuela is the star of the show. She tends her own garden, makes her own fig jam (she gave us a jar before we left), sausage, wine, brandy and pretty much everything else. For 10 euro a person extra (it's optional but i highly recommend it) you get a table full of food for dinner that she prepared from her garden and the surrounding area. She was obviously very pleased to entertain us and even though we don't speak Portuguese, we figured out a way to communicate (she speaks a bit of Spanish and German too). Really memorable experience. It's one of those things where 20 years from now i'll look back on this trip and if i don't remember anything else, i'll remember our stay with Manuela.
