Spring Water Retreat is an oasis of peace nestled into the hills of the Great Smoky Mountains. The lodgings are both simple and elegant, and the hosts (Tamera and Jack) display the epitome of traditional, welcoming hospitality. Our arrival was well prepared for (including specific requests that were made due to our special event for the weekend), and Tamera and Jack did their best once we arrived to ensure we were comfortable and well cared for.
Spring Water is centralized in the mountains of Western Carolina - close to Highlands, Cashiers, Franklin, and Sylva. Being in this location allows for quick day trips as far as Asheville and Cherokee without a lot of time spent in the car, and also allows you the ability to pop all over the Western portion of Carolina as well as Eastern Tennessee without an issue.
The apartment that we rented is on the lower level. The furnishings are luxurious, the bed and linens amazing, and the jetted jacuzzi/steam shower the perfect end to a long day of travel.
Tamera and Jack offer a variety of amenities and add-ons to your stay and we regret that we didn't have the time this time around for things like S'mores around the campfire, a prepared picnic lunch for a hike, or a gourmet dinner prepared for us at the house to be enjoyed on the overlook outside of the house. In our next visit - and there will be a next visit! - we fully intend enjoy this part of the stay.
This visit was for my fiance's birthday, and upon our arrival all of the arrangements I had made with Tamera had been set up and ready for him despite the host being under the weather! It was clear that we and our visit were their priority over the weekend, and I can't say enough about how much we appreciate the care, as well as the attention to detail for this visit. I cannot recommend this stay enough.
My wife and I stayed with at Jack and Tamera's place for 2 nights and had a FANTASTIC experience. The pictures don't do the living space justice and the property is as beautiful as advertised.
Jack and Tamera were wonderful hosts who made sure our arrival, stay and departure were perfect. I would highly recommend them and their property to anyone.
Not what I expected. Disappointed. Unhappy with visit. Multiple issues.
The surroundings in the place are incredible. While it's a bit tasking to find, if you carefully follow the owners directions you will find it worth your while to get there. You can do as much as you'd like or as little and completely enjoy a relaxing quite time. Even the books in the living room were wonderful. The quarters are clean and comfortable. Remember, there is no formal kitchen so be prepared. However, the owner goes out of her way to provide anything you need, simply let her know. She even does your dishes ! The owner is a warm caring person who you will enjoy meeting. I look forward to returning.
I took my girlfriend on a surprise trip to Spring Water Farm and Retreat over a long weekend, and words can't express how perfect it was. The scenery is stunning, especially this time of year. Our hosts recommended some beautiful hikes, took us kayaking on a nearby lake, packed us a gourmet picnic basket for lunch by the waterfalls, made a fire for s'mores, and even gave us the upstairs kitchen so that we could cook a meal together.
Thank you Tamera and Randy for being such wonderful hosts - we can't wait to return!
Not sure this counts as a review because of how personal it is, but I wanted to express how we felt with our visit.
I can't express how truly grateful I am to both you and Randy for these moments. You both have been such amazing hosts that I feel like we owe you so much more than what we paid. Seriously everything for me has been amazing!!! Even though I'm a guest here I feel the need to go chop wood or help Randy create another pond. Lol. These last couple of days has been exactly what I needed. I really hope I can make it back here in the near future.
Mom has told me about your health today and I pray for your healing. My mom and I really are inspired by your energy and constant smile around us.
For Randy, I can't thank him enough for allowing us to enjoy this area, and creating great memories for the kids. From driving the boat to taking us on what the kids call "a tractor". You both really did go above and beyond and once again I say thank you.
Ok, I'm gonna apologize for the loud noise, the endless mounts of dishes and towels I know we used. Next time, you should allow us to help you out by washing our own dishes or something; seriously we felt like family, and we needed to pull our own weight around here. Also I enjoyed y'all's company so much that I would have loved to have spent more time chatting with y'all. I don't know if that's a weird request. But I really enjoyed just being around the both of you. I will for sure keep in contact with you, and I will have to check out Carborro.
From my family to you and Randy, thank you so much. I personally wish I didn't have to leave, but I'll be back to visit in the future...if y'all will have me. Lol
Tamera was a wonderful host and the apartment was lovely. Our dinner around the fire that the hosts made for us was a highlight of our visit. Our daughter still talks about it.
Since it was a working trip for me, the spot was a bit remote for my needs (access to archives in Cherokee and WCU), but for someone looking for a getaway couldn't find a nicer spot or host!

Nature lovers, huge supporters of the arts (music, dance, performers, photography, etc.) and all things that evoke positive change and emotions, we enjoy meeting people from all different shades of life.
In addition to authoring books on encouragement and helping others through Fusion Yoga and Wellness Coaching, Tamera also creates functional art. We both spend time swimming, kayaking, drumming on our djembe, drinking wine with friends, cooking deliciously healthy meals, entertaining, traveling, dancing, singing, and photography.
Jack created the masterpiece on the land at Spring Water Farm using his imagination, as well as landscaping and building skills. His work represents the movement and change of nature, and those who experience it feel the beauty of what he built.
We met on Airbnb and married in 2014, and together we look forward to meeting guests and hosts, alike!
