Interaction with Guests
I have lived in the Northwest all my life and am happy to share ideas about places to go to fulfill any of your interest. I have traveled extensively, and I am a people person, meeting very few that I didn't like. I respect my guest's needs for privacy and having there own space but am standing by for chats or to answer questions for anything needed.
The Camus Prairie sitting between the small towns of Yelm and Rainier, is also 35 minutes to either Olympia or Tacoma. Also close to Seatac Airport approximately an hour away and about 1 1/2 hours to Seattle. All three of these cities have a myriad of cultural events, galleries, shopping of all kinds and dozens of seasonal (website hidden). Rainier, as well as (website hidden). Helens are near by as are, the coastal towns along the Pacific Ocean. The Salish Sea (Puget Sound) and the Hoh Rain Forest hold endless wonder as well. Right in our neighborhood is Northwest Trek, Wolf Haven and the Roy Rodeo.
Sea Tac airport is an hour away. Amtrack train line is 20 minutes away. Car rentals are readily available.
I'm not a big "rule" person but I do expect my guest to clean up after themselves, put there dishes in the dish washer etc. Also let me know if they plan on having additional friends or family in. No non-perscription drugs or smoking please.
I found staying at Janis' place very peaceful and the perfect location to spend time visiting Mt. Rainier and Olympia as well as the Pacific coast. Janis was very helpful and informative about the area as well as having a very interesting background and insightful ideas about life and society. I highly recommend her place to stay.
Janis was great at communicating prior to arriving and made sure we were comfortable with directions to her place and what to do on arrival. The house was quirky, quaint and comfortable, both indoor and outdoor. Wish we had more time to enjoy the property. Janis made us feel very welcome and was a wonderful hostess.
Janis was so nice and warm! She made our contact fairly efficient and easy. Once we confirmed, she provided us a very very detailed direction to her house and our room. We checked in so late but she made the whole process smooth. And she gave us a lot of advices for the places we can visit.
The place is fantastic, comfortable and cozy. We loved these amazing decorations in her house so much! It's a right place if you want to experience both comfort and wildness. We would love to stay with her again if we want to visit Mt Rainier again.
My husband and I feel great about our week at Jan's lovely place. A very thoughtful hostess, Jan made us feel comfortable and at home. She invited us to enjoy the lovely spaces she has created in her home as well as the beautiful grounds that she lovingly maintains. Jan responded generously and kindly to our questions and needs. We would love to stay at Jan's again sometime.
We had a very nice stay in Yelm, WA. The cozy farmhouse was just as we had hoped; a very quiet retreat with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. We certainly would stay here again, should we have the opportunity. Special thanks to Janis for making our stay easy and enjoyable!
Janis was warm, gracious, easy to contact and super helpful with directions in finding her house (not difficult but she has shortcuts); once we were there WOW what a magical and eclectic place! Finch aviary to the left, huge warm working wood stove to the right, grow room with huge happy plants straight ahead. The bedroom is private being at the opposite end of the house to hers, we had a clean and private bathroom to ourselves, though we didn't use it the outdoor sauna looks awesome. The only thing I wished for was more time to hear Janis's story. Thanks!
I retired from the film business sixteen years ago and bought my dream home, a farm on the Camus Prairie near Yelm, Washington. Here I have a organic garden, seasonal creek outdoor sauna and many amenities. Most people, once here mention the magic and beauty of this little farm. Perhaps it's the indoor/outdoor aviary full of finches the huge indoor greenhouse or the fact that it is so important to me that each guest feels at home.
