Interaction with Guests
We love meeting people and hearing about our guests' travels, and we're happy to share our recommendations for favorite local spots. We try to greet each guest upon arrival, but if that's not possible, we'll leave specific instructions. We respect our guests' privacy and are fairly 'hands-off' hosts once guests are settled in.
We live in one of Santa Barbara's oldest neighborhoods, walking distance to public transportation, the best Mexican food in town, and Trader Joe's. Walk to beach, great eats, including the world famous La Super Rica, Telegraph Brewing Company, and local wine tasting. Borrow a bike and hit the Urban Wine Trail in the nearby Funk Zone, or bike to State Street, Santa Barbara's "downtown" with shopping, restaurants, and bars.
Our neighborhood is quiet and family-friendly, comprised of small bungalows mostly built in the 1920's-40's.
Our neighborhood has great accessibility to the best of Santa Barbara. We're walking (or biking) distance to the beach, the Santa Barbara Bowl, downtown/State street, restaurants and shops. The train station is a 5-minute cab ride; public bus stop is one block from our place. We are approximately a 20-minute drive from the SB airport and UCSB.
There's plenty of free, easy street parking - just note street cleaning signs!
No smoking anywhere on property, please.
No check-ins after 10 pm (for special circumstances, please contact us in advance.)
This casita was PERFECT, a little home away from home! It had everything I needed—the comfiest bed EVER, an adorable, well-equipped bathroom and shower, coffee, tea, wifi and even cable TV. (Also, the outdoor area was lush and welcoming, a lovely place to enjoy morning coffee and a book.) I had never been to Santa Barbara but I quickly learned that the house was well-situated (very close to the beach and downtown) and I felt extremely safe. Plus, Jen and Mark were the perfect hosts—they even greeted me with a glass of wine after my long drive from Carmel! I loved this casita and wish I could have stayed longer!
Jen and Mark are fantastic hosts. Their warmth and hospitality should be highlighted. The casita in itself is charming with all the amenities one needs. The patio is also a great spot to relax under avocado and orange trees. Highly recommend the cosy casita
We absolutely loved both the casita and the hosts. Jen and Mark were there whenever we needed them. Their advice was so helpful! So sad we did not get to see the twins in person. The casita offered even more than we needed. Great bookshelf, lovely furniture and details. The bikes were very helpful to get around and see most of SB. To all the people considering staying at the casita: do it, but make sure to stay as long as possible - best place on our entire trip! :)
Great little room right behind their house, we felt like we were part of the neighborhood, bed was super!! Was a really Hot weekend, fan was great to keep us cooled off, very private. Lots around, grocery, restaurants, beach really close. Hosts were so sweet, interested, but not nosy (Ha)! Wonderful deal in Santa Barbara area. Parking can be a bit tricky if you have a large vehicle.. Lovely large patio with lots of shade..looks exactly like the pictures.. I would stay again when in Santa Barbara..
Mark and Jen are great people. Nice, friendly, very helpful and very attentive to guests. The house is gorgeous. A beautiful garden with a beautiful and huge tree Avocado and chairs to enjoy the relatively cool evenings of Santa Barbara.
The casita is well furnisched, functional, very clean, large, comfortable bed, TV, library and a beautiful bathroom with a large shower. The casita is located in the garden in front of the home of Mark and Jen in which they live with their daughters.
Jen gave us all the necessary information to visit the city and great recommendations on where to eat and drink good wine.
The house is a 10-minute ride from the city center and 10 minutes from the beach aree. 5 minutes walk there are restaurants and pizzerias, and 2 large super markets well supplied. One of them is equipped with many organic products and , high quality and reasonably priced; It is called "Fresh and easy".
There are 2 Californian bicycles very comfortable because Santa Barbara is safe for bikes.
We stayed 3 nights and we loved it. Thanks to the fact that the Casita is in the garden we had a lot privicy. Despite everything we had the pleasure to talk with Matt and Jen and it was really appreciated.
The philosophy of airbnb is fully satisfied with the way they hold and to behave with the guests. It seems to stay at home.
Highly recommended to stay in Santa Barbara, a seaside town, seafood and good wine.
We had a great time staying in la casita. Mark & Jen were extremely helpful and gave us useful tips of what to do in Santa Barbara.
