The casita is a cute and cozy one bedroom, one-bath cottage, situated in our backyard garden. Walking or biking distance to the beach, downtown, great eats, and Santa Barbara's Urban Wine Trail and Funk Zone - enjoy!

The Space

Charming detached private cottage situated in our lovely backyard garden. Casita is one small room with queen bed and beautifully tiled full bathroom (including shower.) Enjoy our outdoor dining and lounge area, or shaded seating under the avocado tree. Casita includes wireless Internet, cable tv, and plenty of books and magazines for browsing. We provide a coffee maker and tea kettle, Peet's coffee and assorted teas, and oatmeal. There is no kitchen in the casita, but we can provide a cooler upon request.
We have hosted travelers from all over the world in our casita, and look forward to your visit. Aquí está su casa en Santa Barbara.

Guest Access

Guests have access to outdoor garden area, which includes dining area and shaded lounge area. We also have 2 beach cruiser bikes (with lock) that guests may use.

Interaction with Guests

We love meeting people and hearing about our guests' travels, and we're happy to share our recommendations for favorite local spots. We try to greet each guest upon arrival, but if that's not possible, we'll leave specific instructions. We respect our guests' privacy and are fairly 'hands-off' hosts once guests are settled in.

The Neighborhood

We live in one of Santa Barbara's oldest neighborhoods, walking distance to public transportation, the best Mexican food in town, and Trader Joe's. Walk to beach, great eats, including the world famous La Super Rica, Telegraph Brewing Company, and local wine tasting. Borrow a bike and hit the Urban Wine Trail in the nearby Funk Zone, or bike to State Street, Santa Barbara's "downtown" with shopping, restaurants, and bars.
Our neighborhood is quiet and family-friendly, comprised of small bungalows mostly built in the 1920's-40's.

Getting around

Our neighborhood has great accessibility to the best of Santa Barbara. We're walking (or biking) distance to the beach, the Santa Barbara Bowl, downtown/State street, restaurants and shops. The train station is a 5-minute cab ride; public bus stop is one block from our place. We are approximately a 20-minute drive from the SB airport and UCSB.
There's plenty of free, easy street parking - just note street cleaning signs!

  • Mark and Jen were wonderful hosts during our short stay at their cozy castia. They helped us pick some great restaurants to eat/drink at. The restroom and room itself were clean, bright, and very welcoming! We were also able to request a medium size cooler which was placed right outside the door before we arrived. Great with giving us a quick replies too. This was our first time using airbnb and they have made it a great experience. Thanks for hosting us!

The place is located near some great local food spots and is a short distance to the beach or downtown State st. We had a wonderful time exploring Santa Barbara and when we return, we know just the place to stay!

  • Mark and Jen were wonderful hosts! They were very welcoming and made us feel right at home! They gave us plenty of recommendations, most of which were a short bike ride away. The two bikes they have at their guests disposal is such a nice extra touch. The casita itself was so cozy and relaxing. Just what we needed. If ever back in the area my girlfriend and I will definitely be back! Thanks again Mark and Jen!

  • We loved staying at Mark and Jen's casita. The place is so cute with everything you need, and surrounded by beautiful fruit trees. Mark and Jen are lovely, and Mark was able to give some good surf tips to my boyfriend! Their two girls are super sweet. The location is great and we used the bikes to travel around. Santa Barbara is such a beautiful place I would love to return. I would highly recommend staying at the Casita.

  • This Charming Cosy Casita was one of our favorite stays. The perfect place for some R&R. There is two bike cruisers available for use which were a fantastic way to look around. The area is very funky and the town center is easily accessible from the casita. Absolutely loved our stay here. Thanks!

  • Mark was a wonderful host and we loved getting to meet him and his suggestions for Santa Barbara. The Casita is beautiful (love the shower!) and in a great location for everything Santa Barbara has to offer. We were sad to leave so soon and have already discussed booking the Casita again for a longer trip. Thank you so much!
