Interaction with Guests
We love meeting people and hearing about our guests' travels, and we're happy to share our recommendations for favorite local spots. We try to greet each guest upon arrival, but if that's not possible, we'll leave specific instructions. We respect our guests' privacy and are fairly 'hands-off' hosts once guests are settled in.
We live in one of Santa Barbara's oldest neighborhoods, walking distance to public transportation, the best Mexican food in town, and Trader Joe's. Walk to beach, great eats, including the world famous La Super Rica, Telegraph Brewing Company, and local wine tasting. Borrow a bike and hit the Urban Wine Trail in the nearby Funk Zone, or bike to State Street, Santa Barbara's "downtown" with shopping, restaurants, and bars.
Our neighborhood is quiet and family-friendly, comprised of small bungalows mostly built in the 1920's-40's.
Our neighborhood has great accessibility to the best of Santa Barbara. We're walking (or biking) distance to the beach, the Santa Barbara Bowl, downtown/State street, restaurants and shops. The train station is a 5-minute cab ride; public bus stop is one block from our place. We are approximately a 20-minute drive from the SB airport and UCSB.
There's plenty of free, easy street parking - just note street cleaning signs!
No smoking anywhere on property, please.
No check-ins after 10 pm (for special circumstances, please contact us in advance.)
We had a wonderful time staying at the Casita. Mark & Jen were wonderful - gave us tons of privacy but were also available as needed with ideas for exploring Santa Barbara! Loved the area and walked everywhere. Thank you for a really relaxing and enjoyable stay in a beautiful place!
Wir waren für 2 Nächte im Casita und würden es immer wieder buchen. Das kleine Zimmer im Garten von Mark und Jen ist sehr gemütlich und sehr sauber. Man hat alles was man braucht. Mit den Fahrrädern waren wir schnell am Strand oder im Zentrum. Mark und Jen haben uns sehr freundlich aufgenommen und auch die vorherige Kommunikation war super! Gerne wieder!
Mark and Jen were great hosts. The girls were so sweet. The room was just as described. It it quaint , clean and had everything we needed. We were especially happy with the comfort of the bed. The proximity of their home was close to the beach, downtown and our son's school. We felt right at home and look forward to future stays. Thank you again for your hospitality.

Jen and Marc are such gracious yet unintrusive hosts who provided everything we could possibly need. The casita truly is charming and cozy - great fit for one to two people - but the incredibly fragrant jasmine surrounding the entrance to the casita took this accommodation to the next level! Fabulous location - within easy walking distance of great restaurants including the famous Super-Rica Taqueria.
Jen and Mark were wonderful hosts. Their casita was as described....very cozy but comfy. We were the first to enjoy the new mattress and slept like rocks. There were thoughtful little details....personal care items, books, candles, wine glasses and opener, coffee maker and good coffee. We needed an iron & ironing board & had it within minutes of our request. We were visiting friends in the area, but would have enjoyed spending more time with our hosts. We were only here two nights and they accommodated our short term stay. It was convenient to major shopping which we drove to. Cars have to be moved by 10 am which worked out fine with our schedule. This is a residential area so parking is limited. They recommended the East Beach Grill for breakfast. Great location on the waterfront and terrific breakfast...blueberry pancakes. Hosts also gave sheet with other recommendations. They are conveniently located to lots of sites. Parking in Santa Barbara is incredibly inexpensive and shopping and restaurants are terrific. Santa Barbara Arts Store in the arcade on State St is a must for unique items. Jen also shops there and the Plum shop. Enjoyed our brief stay and definitely felt welcomed.
Mark is a great host. He is so kind to answer all my questions. The room is so magnificent and we all loved very much. It has a good location and was very clean and tidy. We like Santa Barbara and we also like Mark's whole family. I hope that we can come here soon.
Mark and Jen greeted us warmly and helped make our stay more rewarding. The "Cozy Casita" lived up to its description and was neat, clean and comfortable located in a central older neighborhood close to many great spots to eat (their recommendations are excellent). They seem to be a wonderful family!
We are a teaching couple with three wonderful daughters -a high schooler and identical twin five-year olds. As hosts, we like to provide our guests with ideas and recommendations for making their stay in Santa Barbara unique and memorable. We'll give you the local's perspective, including our favorites spots to eat, drink, and enjoy the best our town has to offer.
We have hosted folks from all over the world, and we look forward to meeting you.
