The home was built by Union Colonel Sion Bass, who commanded the Indiana 30th in the Civil War. The home is decked out with a Civil War theme, with pictures of Sion and his men. This is in the heart of downtown Fort Wayne, with Starbucks a Frisbee throw away, restaurants, and activity in all directions.

The Sion Bass Suite would be our "Honeymoon Suite" if there was such a thing. Large, with tall ceilings, and a 2 person Jacuzzi Tub just off the bedroom and is named after Sion Bass himself. He served during the Civil War as Colonel and commander of the 30th Indiana Volunteer Infantry, and was mortally wounded while leading the 30th at the Battle of Shiloh on April 7, 1862.

Other things to note
In the summer, there is a large festival every single weekend. Our library is magnificent, and boasts the best genealogy department East of the Mississippi River (second in the nation, behind only Salt Lake City). The Barr Street Farmers Market every Saturday morning in the summer is a must see. You can be in the middle of everything in minutes.

My work: Old House Nerd
Lives in Fort Wayne, Indiana
I am an old house nerd who lives in downtown Fort Wayne with my wife and 3 wonderful children. I bought my first historic home at 24, and never looked back. Over the last 20+ years, I have been blessed to have the opportunity to take disheveled, ignored 100 year old treasures, and restore them to their former glory. I love every bit of it. Please come and enjoy these treasures with us!
