Peace and quiet

Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
Large spacious Carriage House studio (the building with the red roof in the cover photo) on 34.5 acre working farm in Southern Maine. 1/2 hour from Portland and Biddeford/Saco, 40 min from Kennebunk. The farm looks out onto fields and woods in the back but sits on Rt 35 which is a not a highway, it's a country road, but people drive on it like it's the interstate.

The space
There is an upstairs loft with a queen size bed and a pull out couch in the living room, and there is a pull out couch in the bathroom also. It's a very large bathroom.

Guest access
This is a working farm. You are welcome to go into the barn but don't feed the animals unless I am with you. You may ask me to show you around and we can go into the fields and visit the animals together, but don’t open the gates and go in on your own. Thanks.

Other things to note
Common sense decency: Wash your own dishes and be friendly. There is no smoking in the apartment or in the barn

In the winter the floors are really cold, bring slippers you will need them.

It's ok to move a light or change things around but please put it all back the way you found it. Thanks.
Please do not go into the field unless you are with someone from Lily Brook Farm. You may enter the barn through the first gate, and visit the horses and sheep, but please don't go through the gate into where the animals are. This is for your protection and the animals. Most likely there will be hay on the barn floor from the hay bales, please don't feed the animals hay or anything else. I am around most the time so if you would like to visit the animals let me know. Thanks and the animals thank you!

If for some reason you do bring your dog because it’s a service dog..please do not complain that my guard dog barked a lot. Shuggy, the Livestock Guardian Dog will bark at the smell of a new animal. If you have your dog here, Shuggy will non stop bark. So be it...we are used to it, but don't complain about it to me or to airbnb, Thank you for your respect.

There is grass and you have to walk on grass to get to the carriage house. Believe it or not I got a bad review because someone got their feet wet in the grass after it rained. If you want only concrete sidewalks you will have to go to a motel in town. Also there are chickens and ducks that are free range, it’s possible you’ll see chicken poop or duck poop, if this is unacceptable to you you should not stay on a farm. Thanks and hope to see you soon! Bring boots if you'd like to go into the fields or walk out back on the trails.

I have a sign on my lawn that says Black Lives Matter because Black lives do matter, if that makes you uncomfortable this probably isn’t the place for you unless you want to come to heal your inner racism in which case we welcome you to use this space to do that as long as you don’t disrespect others in the process or demand your money back because there’s a BLM sign.

Neighborhood highlights

Unless you would like to walk to the nearest store, 1.5 miles away, you will need a car. this is the country, although the farm is very near the road as old farmhouses often are. Unfortunately. Behind the house there are fields and trails but in front of the house is Little Falls Rd.
