Interaction with Guests
We love meeting our guests and can offer advice on everything in the area.
Our B&B overlooks Derryhiveny Castle one of the last true castles constructed in the 17th century.
A bus service runs from Portumna to the major cities. There are also several reliable taxi firms in the town.
All our guests have been extremely considerate to others staying at the B&B. We do not accept hen or stag parties.
Bernadotte and Mike run a ship-shape B&B. Their guests want for nothing: a warm welcome, complimentary bottle of water and snacks, tea & coffee making facilities, electric blankets, even a hot bath! Not to mention the friendliest couple you could ever hope to meet on your travels!
Bernadette and Mike were excellent hosts who were very friendly and helpful....beyond expectations
My room was large, comfortable and spotless, with plenty of hanging space and drawer space.
Breakfast was great...whatever I wanted.
There is a big comfortable room for relaxing or watching tv, and a games room which I didn't use.
Bernadette and Mike were really good too, suggesting places to visit in the area.
Altogether a lovely, peaceful setting and a great experience.
I came to live in Portumna 6 years ago with my husband Mike to escape the rat race of big city life. We both love to get out onto the Shannon when we are not busy with our guests at the B&B. Another favorite place is Portumna Forest Park where we can walk or cycle down to the lake or see the deer and other wild life. The B&B gives us the opportunity to meet people from all over the world and share our experiences. When we can find the time Mike likes to go fishing on the river or lough and I now have taken up painting.
