Locals often call the house the “ponte vecchio” because of the bridge between its two parts.

Romantic fully renovated home in the Natural Park of Haut Languedoc. Superbly appointed, traditional stone-built house in the ancient hamlet of Le Vernet. Accomodates up to 8 people in comfort. Ideal for a truly relaxing holiday in the sun.

The space

The house - called 'Lo forn vielh' (the name is Occitan for "The Old Bakery") - is an enchanting and fully renovated complex of buildings. The main house comprises three bedrooms, a large airy living room, dining room, a fully equipped kitchen (including dishwasher and microwave), and two bathrooms. Living room, dining room, kitchen, the main bathroom and toilet and a large terrace with plenty of herbs and flowers are all on the same level.
The bedrooms.
Climb the stairs to view the bedrooms. A miniature gallery allows you to look down into the living room from the landing. On the left is a bedroom with a splendid view of the mountains on the other side of the Orb valley. Turn right and cross the glassed-in bridge to the master bedroom with its en-suite bathroom, separate toilet and private terrace. Both rooms have wide double beds.
A third spacious bedroom with twin beds is reached by descending the stairs in the living room to the ground floor level. It always feels nice and cool.
The optional summer house stands in its own grounds near the main house. Furnished with a pull-out double bed, it is ideal for those who wish to enjoy the silence of Le Vernet to the full.

We very much enjoyed staying at this lovely house; nice quiet and quaint location, house tastefully refurbished and a lovely plant filled terrace. Claire was always easy to communicate with and responded quickly. We'd highly recommend this delightful property.

A great house with a really homely feel! Plenty of space for a family holiday, and all the facilities you need for a comfortable stay. The location is great too, and we had no problem parking our car nearby. The views will be lovely when the trees start getting green again, and there are lots of things to do in the vicinity and beyond. The coast is less than an hour away in the car, so you get the best of all worlds here. I'd stay again!

A lovely little hamlet, in a very quite and scenic part of France. The house is so nicely done, a proper home with everything you could need, so much better than a self catering commercial property. Claire was very helpful, with lots of information available about the area and even tips on the weather for the week. Highly recommended.

The house is very comfortably appointed; quaint but plenty roomy enough for 6. It's in a gorgeous stone-built hamlet in the hills, so wonderfully quiet but you will need a car to get to shops etc. Beautiful views from the 2 terraces (a large one off the kitchen, a smaller one off the ensuite bedroom). The owner Claire was very engaging when we booked and keyholder Marie-Jo (French-speaking, no English) friendly and helpful. Many thanks for a lovely stay.
