My friends and I had a lovely time staying in Paul's apartment.
Paul and Violeta were so welcoming into their home and culture - on our second day they took us biking around Cusco to explore the mountains, local ruins, and a great restaurant! I had been looking to take Spanish classes but after Paul recommended a few and even walked me to one of the schools he offered to tutor me, at a better rate than the schools, AND he was a fantastic teacher. Overall staying here was a great way to experience Peruvian culture and meet more locals, rather than tourists (and Cusco is full of tourists).
I really enjoyed my stay at Paul's property! The location was excellent, easy to find, and close to numerous affordable restaurants. Paul responded to all of my messages extraordinary fast and was able to answer all of my questions. Furthermore, Paul's English is extremely good—so do not hesitate if you can only speak English!

I would definitely recommend staying here!
I had a fantastic time during my two weeks here! It's a very pleasant and very short walk right up Avenue El Sol to Plaza de Armas. There's a nice little grocery store just minutes away. The room was just as listed. I felt extremely safe and comfortable. The other lodgers were friendly, and Paul and his family were more than welcoming.
Paul was a very gracious host. My boyfriend and I actually stayed at Paul's sister Ruth's home. Ruth was very nice and had tea (coca for the altitude) and hot water ready every morning. However, she was out of town for part of our stay. The beds were especially warm, which was very nice because it gets chilly at night in October. Paul picked us up and drove us to the house. He also helped us set up Spanish lessons, showed us some cheap places to eat, and showed us the best places to exchange our money. He was timely and friendly.
One thing worth mentioning is that the kitchen did not have an oven. It had a stove top, and that was just fine for us, but if you plan on baking or anything, this could be a problem. However, we were at Ruth's home and I don't know what Paul's place has kitchen-wise.
Paul and his family were incredibly welcoming and friendly. Their advice was really helpful for navigating Cuzco and getting to Machu Picchu. Keep in mind the room pictured may not be the room you get as there seems to be several rooms rented out to various travelers. The room we stayed at was close to the main station and a 15/20 minute walk to the historic square. You may need to clean the bathroom yourself and sometimes the water doesn't work at night but other than that the stay is comfortable.
Paul speaks perfect english and is a great liaison. He arranged for his brother to pick us up at the airport so we didn't have to worry about how to get there.
We stayed with Paul's sister in the other unit they have listed and it was a great immersive experience. Ruth is trying to learn some English so she has just as much fun having a conversation where she learns new words. She was a great host and had a lot to tell us about the city and where to go but you have to speak basic spanish is you want the full experience. She also has a lot of fun using Google Translate, so if you have absolutely no spanish experience you will still get some of the warm hospitality she and her daughters provide!
The location of the other place was great and there were fancy restaurants in the hotels near by as well.
There were plenty of blankets to stay warm, and the hot water was great as well, but had low pressure which was the standard everywhere we went in most of Peru. Also the wifi is shared and finicky, but is reliably available, just expect it to be slow in peak times. Again, this was common everywhere we went outside of Lima. Walk to the four star hotel on avenida del sol, pay $10 USD for a nice breakfast buffet, and get their wifi password for any serious work sessions.
Paul and Ruth were incredibly kind on welcoming us to their flat in Cusco. We stayed for 3 weeks and Paul helped to organise us some medical volunteering as well as giving us great advice for trips in the areas around Cusco. Our stay would not have been the same without them! The apartment was very clean and just what we needed for a 3 week stay. Thank you!
