Interaction with Guests
we live in the property aswell, so interplay with our guest is very good, in that way we'll know how to treat you better and make you feel comfortable.
Reyna is a spanish teacher also, so if you need some clases to improve your level or just basics to get around, only ask and we will give you more information.
The highway is very close, so it is easy to get a taxi or colectivo from the bungalows.
Noe was very nice and very helpful. It was my first real trip to Mexico and l speak very little Spanish (I am trying to learn). Noe made my arrival very easy by picking me up at the airport and taking me to his place. I stayed in the 3 story bungalow which was clean, had a kitchen with refrigerator and gas stove, and nice views of the ocean. The hammock on the top floor was great for spending relaxing afternoons and evenings. His place is a short walk from the beach and market. He even spent one day showing me the river just east of town and we walked back to town on a very long beautiful beach (the walk was my idea). I would definitely like to stay there again and would recommend the 3 story bungalow to anyone staying in Puerto Escondido.
As Noe was such a kind and friendly host it pains me to write that our experience at Bungalows Santiago was simply awful.
Firstly it is impossible to find. No address or directions were provided so we had to ask for some. The ones we were sent had taxi drivers going around in circles with no clue. It is literally off the map up a dirt road and some paths.
When we eventually arrived an hour after agreed check in (from walking around for so long until a local showed us the way) we were told that the previous guest was still in the bungalow so we had to wait. After another hour of waiting the guest finally left and Noe did a 10 minute clean of the space (!) and let us in.
It was not the space we booked. We had booked and confirmed for a three storey bungalow with ocean view. What we received was a small brick room with no windows. The shower had no curtain, no soap, no hot water and no towels. The toilet was blocked. The beds were uncomfortable and the sheets not clean.
Being NYE and with the delay of check in we could not find alternative accommodation so stayed one night and left.
Would not recommend.
Warm welcome fwhen we arrived. Cabana was rustic but clean. For the price I was expecting wifi. The way in by car or motorbike is difficult and can be scary at night but the walking path is few meters from the main road to reach the beach.
Noe was an incredible host. Super sweet, friendly and someone who knows Puerto Escondido incredibly well. Also helped us out with our Spanish! The place itself is beautiful. Three floors, hammock, dining table, kitchen, a private room, you name it. It was an amazing stay and certainly creates a big reason to return to Puerto Escondido one day again.
Our hosts were fantastic and very friendly We originally requested a two story bungalow but it was not available. We stayed in a cabin instead. This was great for a short stay. If we had known there wasn't hot water we would have booked for a shorter stay. Our hosts kept our place clean and offered us hammocks and chairs for our comfort. There is a hot plate and full size fridge There isn't a view from the cabin but it is a short walk to the Adoquin and playa Municipal. about four blocks to central. The location is good. Three blocks to playa zicatella. Our hosts found us at the bus depot and took us to our cabin which was very much appreciated. As our hosts live in the area we felt very comfortable leaving our belongings in the room. The cabin is very basic on the Adoquin, cafe Vivaldi was great for coffee and free wifi. Beside them Estrella del mar offered really excellent food and incredibly clean facility. I central Tacos Roman was exceptional. The pastor enchilada was the best ever and served with delicious shallot condiments and salsa. The Alambra was also worthy if note. Thank you so much to our hosts for their kindness and searching for us at the bus depot. Without their diligence we would not have found our accomodations.
