About this listing
The Cottage is nestled in Olympia’s Eastside neighborhood, a short walk from downtown. The Bungalow shares a small urban site with another small guest house. Both use space efficient and eco-friendly design principles. The Cottage features local wood products and local craftsmanship to enhance the warmth and sense of place. Parking is on the street and access to the cottage includes an uphill stroll on a reclaimed driveway, lush in native vegetation. Two birch trees mark your entrance.
The landscape is filled with native plants, fruits, berries and herbs. And of course, bamboo. Although this little home away from home is only 500 square feet, the design heightens the sense of warmth in this cozy, comfortable space.
The Bungalow comfortably accommodates 2 guests with:
One bedroom - with a queen bed
One bathroom with a unique slate and pebble shower
Dining area with a well equipped kitchen with an electric range
Earth-friendly cleaning practices
CD player with a collection of CDs
Collection of books, games and puzzles
Towels, soap, hair dryer, iron and ironing board
Covered patio with outdoor seating in small fenced yard
Fully furnished with your comfort and convenience in mind
It was all wonderful! The cottage and interior were lovely…we wanted to stay longer, come more often! All of the needs one might have while away from home were met and then some. We could not have been more pleased with our stay.
We had a great time at this cozy cottage. The bed is comfortable and there is a nice little table on the deck outside. We didn't use the kitchen much, but it looked like a nice place to cook a meal.

This place is amazing! There was even peach trees with peach ripe for the grab. We were amazed by how thoughtful the decoration was and the completeness of kitchen supplies. Truly an amazing experience!
I'm so happy I decided to stay at The Cottage. My son and I were very comfortable there--it was perfect for two! The space is clean and beautiful, with a lot of charm and character. The kitchen and bathroom had all the stuff we needed plus more. Ellen has a stocked bookshelf as well, which was much appreciated, as were the maps and guide books. Ellen was communicative and helpful the whole way through. I wish we could have stayed longer!
Great stay! There was an issue with the cottage that we booked before we arrived, and Ellen upgraded us to the bungalow at no extra charge. Quiet, peaceful, clean, and very close to downtown. There was an apple tree next door and the smell was heavenly.
The Cottage is a -really- cute place in a nice, quiet neighborhood next to (but completely separate from) a larger house. The pictures don't do it justice. There is a roomy kitchen/dinning area with a four burner stove, a large farmhouse sink, a table that seats four and ample prep space. If you want to watch any movies bring your own screen- (laptop or tablet) as there is wireless internet but no tv in this very private and peaceful retreat.
The bathroom is on the smaller side but very well laid out. The shower has a large waterfall/rain-shower style nozzle with good water pressure. The shower area has a really tall floor that makes people taller than 5'9" have to bend a bit to get under the water.
The bedroom and living area are separated by a wall with pull out doors that you can close if one person wants some privacy. The furnishings are comfortable and well arranged. The windows let in lots of light but have curtains and there is a selection of books for many reading levels in the bookshelf. Would make an excellent writer/artist's retreat and was an excellent romantic get away for a couple. Would recommend.
Host was easy and accommodating with my requests. Location was great. And the space itself was so nourishing. I wanted to spend more quiet time there-- maybe next time!
