About This Listing
The Cottage is nestled in Olympia’s Eastside neighborhood, a short walk from downtown. The Bungalow shares a small urban site with another small guest house. Both use space efficient and eco-friendly design principles. The Cottage features local wood products and local craftsmanship to enhance the warmth and sense of place. The landscape is filled with native plants, fruits, berries and herbs. And of course, bamboo. Although this little home away from home is only 500 square feet, the design heightens the sense of warmth in this cozy, comfortable space.

We traveled to Olympia for the Capital City Half Marathon. The Cottage served as excellent headquarters for travel throughout the area. The house is as described and the pictures accurate. The place was clean with a well stocked kitchen and extra toiletries in the bathroom. The Wifi was strong. We loved sitting outside on the patio and enjoyed the short walk to downtown.
We did have some trouble getting in on our first night. Ellen was out of town and a we couldn't find the key despite instructions. This is a good reminder for all of us in the airbnb community to make sure you've got that worked out before you're jet lagged and left with weak signal and low battery! It all worked out fine and in the end we had a wonderful time. I would definitely recommend this place for others visiting the area.
The cottage was private and had a beautifully landscape yard. The side yard was especially quaint. It was a nice size, with a large well-stocked kitchen. The bed was comfortable and since I'm a nursing mother, I loved the comfy chair in the bedroom too. One minus--there was an ant problem, but it seemed like the owners were trying to take care of it.
Although I didn't get to meet Ellen, she was a great host - she responded quickly to communication and provided plenty of information. The Cottage is in a delightful neighbourhood, a 10 minute or so walk from downtown and is a beautifully decorated space, with a wonderful decking/garden area to chill out in. The bed and bedding were SO comfy! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would come back again.
Our stay was perfect. Ellen's cottage is beautiful, private and peaceful. I absolutely recommend booking a stay here anytime you can visit Olympia!! Incredible.
The cottage was cozy and lovely. Very private experience and a short walk to downtown Olympia. Highly recommended.
We had a great stay at Ellen's cottage. We never met her in person, but she had arranged easy access to the cottage and we found it to be perfect for our needs. In fact, it was fully furnished with anything that one might need for a comfortable stay with a fully functional kitchen to boot. One of my favorite features was the little private yard off the cottage's patio, which we utilized multiple times. The location is also quite good, close to the Downtown area (about 10-15 minute walk) yet far enough from the noise and hustle-and-bustle typical for downtown areas.
