The Space

The Cottage is nestled in Olympia’s Eastside neighborhood, a short walk from downtown. The Bungalow shares a small urban site with another small guest house. Both use space efficient and eco-friendly design principles. The Cottage features local wood products and local craftsmanship to enhance the warmth and sense of place. Parking is on the street and access to the cottage includes an uphill stroll on a reclaimed driveway, lush in native vegetation. Two birch trees mark your entrance.

The landscape is filled with native plants, fruits, berries and herbs. And of course, bamboo. Although this little home away from home is only 500 square feet, the design heightens the sense of warmth in this cozy, comfortable space.

The Bungalow comfortably accommodates 2 guests with:
One bedroom - with a queen bed
One bathroom with a unique slate and pebble shower
Dining area with a well equipped kitchen with an electric range

  • Very comfortable and quiet. The bed was amazingly comfortable. Slept very well. Convenient to town, grocery store, and live theater.

  • We had a lovely visit in The Cottage. I loved the plaster walls, the woodwork, and the low furniture. It's very earthy and hobbit like, very tasteful. And very quiet. I think everything was cleaned with earth friendly products. Sometimes I have allergic reactions to hotel towels, so that was appreciated.

  • Comfortable accommodations for two, good bed. Location was convenient and walkable to Olympia downtown.

  • Loved this cute cottage! Quite comfy: bed was amazing, nice sized kitchen with plenty of walk around space, I really enjoyed my time at Ellen's place. My son lives and school's in Olympia so I'll be returning. Possibly the next time in the larger home. Highly recommend.

  • This place is an absolute gem! I really wish we could've spent more time just hanging out at the Bungalow.

We arrived late in the evening from Seattle (stuck in Thanksgiving traffic), Ellen was very understanding and accommodating. I was in awe from the moment we walked through the door. Beautiful sitting room/ living room. Lovely bedroom with an amazing closet. Adorable bathroom with a tremendous shower - rain shower head (big plus!). The hallway had a cutout to the kitchen... oh, the kitchen. The kitchen was, by far, my favorite area of the house.

Everything was really clean. It had everything we needed - washer, dryer, hair dryer, full length mirror, iron, ironing board, COFFEE MAKER... etc - it had all the amenities + more of a hotel. The heater worked great. Ellen went in and turned it on so that it would be nice and warm when we arrived.

The bungalow was surrounded by trees and had its own private patio.

I would highly recommend the bungalow!

  • Nice place in a quiet neighborhood tucked away behind a larger house but provides nice garden and private outdoor seating as well. Everything was as advertised though the address was listed wrong here on Airbnb causing me to search for 45 minutes for the location after and exhausting drive. The host was unaware of this problem and helped me locate the unit.

Once there I could not have asked for more.

  • Loved this place. Probably our favorite stay yet from the website. Wasn't a thing I could complain about. Close to town, restaurants, stores. Did most of our food at the local Co-op and ate in. The kitchen is fully stocked for any situation, pans, pots, coffee maker, tea set, etc. The little garden was a joy and we had a friend over for afternoon tea which was just lovely. Parking was easy and the entry lit by auto lighting, very convenient. The place was very clean and modern. The wireless was strong. The bungalow is cozy, classy, and private. The bed was also very comfortable. A perfect spot for a romantic get away. We will come and stay again. Didn't meet Ellen but she was absolutely helpful and made everything very easy.

  • This bungalow is very cute and cozy, but less private than we expected. It is situated in between a few houses in a residential neighborhood. There is also a storage shed of sorts attached to the bungalow. We were awoken in the middle of the night when automatic flood lights came on as some strange man was putting things in the storage area. Had it not been for that lack of privacy, this would be a four or five star rating. Honestly, over $150 a night is a little steep for this cute (but not luxurious) bungalow.

Having said that, we really enjoyed the kitchen area. It would be a nice place to cook, although we didin't. It was great that amenities like a coffee grinder and cooking supplies are available for use. The shower head and stone work in the bathroom were nice touches too.

  • We had an excellent stay here - the bungalow is thoroughly outfitted with everything you might need and in the finest quality. The kitchen is huge and a delight to cook in, with a great selection of dishes and pans and an electric stove. The bathroom is luxurious with the best shower head. Having a small living room space to hang out in makes it feel like a real home, and the best was super comfy. The entire bungalow was completely clean. I loved the secluded location, close to downtown but hidden in a beautiful garden. We were even lucky enough to enjoy sunny afternoons on the lawn off the back porch! This is the kind of place where I can't wait to stay again, and will definitely recommend to friends and family for any Olympia visits.

  • Stay here! So cosy, lovely kitchen. Coffee maker. Bring some groceries. Lovely plants and atmosphere. Sort of a mix of Japan meets pacific northwest.
