The Cottage is nestled in Olympia’s Eastside neighborhood, a short walk from downtown. The Bungalow shares a small urban site with another small guest house. Both use space efficient and eco-friendly design principles. The Cottage features local wood products and local craftsmanship to enhance the warmth and sense of place. Parking is on the street and access to the cottage includes an uphill stroll on a reclaimed driveway, lush in native vegetation. Two birch trees mark your entrance.
The landscape is filled with native plants, fruits, berries and herbs. And of course, bamboo. Although this little home away from home is only 500 square feet, the design heightens the sense of warmth in this cozy, comfortable space.
The Bungalow comfortably accommodates 2 guests with:
One bedroom - with a queen bed
One bathroom with a unique slate and pebble shower
Dining area with a well equipped kitchen with an electric range
Earth-friendly cleaning practices
CD player with a collection of CDs
Collection of books, games and puzzles
Towels, soap, hair dryer, iron and ironing board
Covered patio with outdoor seating in small fenced yard
Fully furnished with your comfort and convenience in mind
The cottage was nice and cosy and had everything we needed. Ellen is a great host, helpful and friendly.
What I enjoyed the most was the location and the quality of "The Cottage. Everything felt new and clean. If Ellen ever comes to are area (Charlotte NC.)
I hope she rents our place.
The Cottage was the type of place Elaine and I felt at home.
The Cottage was perfect for our stay in Olympia. It was easy to get find and parking on the street was never an issue. The house had everything we needed, from an assortment of shampoo to an iron and ironing board, which was needed for the wedding we were attending in town. You will love spending time on the front porch enjoying the beautiful flowers and landscaping on the property. Ellen was quick to answer any of our questions, and had plenty of coffee and tea options to pick from, we couldn't have asked for a better host. The only issue we had was that even though the shower was perfect for me (under 5 foot tall) my 6 foot tall companion had issues getting under the faucet. Olympia is a great place to visit with plenty to do, I highly recommend visiting Tumwater park.
The cottage was peaceful and cozy. I had a nice stay and it was very easy to check in and check out. The location was fantastic. Very easy to get to the waterfront and downtown restaurants.
My husband and I stayed at the Cottage one night on the way to Oakland. Very easy to find off the highway, comfortable, enjoyed sitting in the outdoor space, well equipped kitchen--the entire cottage was well appointed and thought out. Everything about the space provided a restful and enjoyable overnight stay!
Ellen's cottage is adorable! We had to shorten our stay because the wifi wasn't working properly, however if we didn't need wifi, I would have loved to stay longer. It's comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. Thanks Ellen!
wonderful, cozy space!
Very comfortable and quiet. The bed was amazingly comfortable. Slept very well. Convenient to town, grocery store, and live theater.
We had a lovely visit in The Cottage. I loved the plaster walls, the woodwork, and the low furniture. It's very earthy and hobbit like, very tasteful. And very quiet. I think everything was cleaned with earth friendly products. Sometimes I have allergic reactions to hotel towels, so that was appreciated.
Comfortable accommodations for two, good bed. Location was convenient and walkable to Olympia downtown.
