Where you’ll be

Great Cacapon, West Virginia, United States

Outside Great Cacapon WV, a rural subdivision with 5-acre plots. Roads form a nice 1.25 walk. Deer, at least one bear, fireflies, birds, squirrels, raccoons. In season, stink bugs;). Quiet with a distant train whistle every couple of hours. Overlooking Cacapon Mountain, near river with dedicated access points. A mile or so away are two public access points. Good for kayaking, swimming and river sitting. Can introduce local kayak guides. Potomac River at Hancock is good for canoeing and kayaking or cycling on C&O Canal Towpath or Western Maryland Rail Trail. Cacapon Resort State Park is good for hiking and nature walks with rangers. Berry picking, home brewed kombucha nearby. Massage in Berkeley Springs and a modest but lively arts and music scene. Farmers market on Sundays April-December. Lots of thrift shops

I live part-time in Washington DC, where I teach, and part-time in Great Cacapon, where I chill and immerse in the natural. I enjoy welcoming guests and sharing my rather rustic place with them. I love the decks, the hot tub in winter, and the woodstove, and hangling out on the porch. At some point, I may put a day bed so I can sleep in the treetops.
