Taja has a beautiful home. It is clean, has a wonderful cooking kitchen and is literally minutes from coffee shops, restaurants and stores. The downstairs bedroom's shower did not work however, although Taja was very quick to respond.
We spent a week at the flat, 3 adults and 2 children. Flat is great and true to the description. Very good and fast internet; all appliances required; great and very comfortable beds; relatively quiet - we had no issues with neighbors upstairs who are in fact charming (couple in their mid thirties).
Communication with the owner / manager was swift and efficient.
Location was perfect for us. We like "up and coming" neighborhood and it was a short walk from various shops. including a Giant food store.
Flat is also very well located to catch the bus 52 or 54 which brings you close to the main Smithsonian museums. Metro station is also a short walk.
I would recommend this flat to friends staying in Washington.
We had an extremely enjoyable stay at this lovely condo. There were no unpleasant surprises, as the place was exactly as it was described on their listing. It was close to lots of shops and restaurants as well as public transportation. After 7 hard days of work it was wonderful to come back to this beautiful, cool and clean apartment and the best thing was that we all had our own bathrooms! The street itself is a little run down but as others have said we never felt unsafe. I would definitely recommend ear plugs, as you can easily hear the TV, footsteps and dog in the apartment upstairs as well as street traffic in front. It was great to have a washer and dryer as well. Our host responded to my messages in a very timely manner as well, we felt very well taken care of. We would definitely stay here again!
I came to stay with my family of 4. It is quite evident, the owner spared no expense in the renovation of this property. It was absolutely beautiful however, the owner could maintain the property a bit better (i.e. replacing bulbs, repainting repaired drywall, etc.. This did not bother me so much as the TV in the master bedroom was gone. That should never be the case. Also, the 3rd bedroom closet was locked and the room guest could not use it.
Overall, I thought the property was very nice and would consider staying again.
This property is very centrally located with easy access to the metro and dining spots. It is someplace I always felt safe despite some of the more run down aspects of the neighborhood. The condo was very modern and clean, but linens are sparse and there are no additions such as bath soap, shampoo, hairdryers etc. Additionally there isn't any drawer space for clothes and one bedroom doesn't have a closet available. (Be prepared to dress out of your luggage.)
The property manager always returned my calls/text messages in a timely manner and was very courteous.
The refrigerator leaked while we were there and someone came to check on it, but didn't know how to repair it.
We got a $30 parking ticket for on-street parking which is limited to residents only; the manager told me that this was just an accepted risk of staying here.
Overall I'd stay here again without hesitation, but I'd be mindful of the above and be more prepared next time.
This was my 11th Airbnb rental and I haven’t had a negative experience yet. The photos accurately reflect this 2 story lower level (garden and first floor) condo and the apartment was exactly as described and very comfortable.
I’m happy to advise all showers are in working order and I didn’t have a single problem during my stay. In fact, my only disappointment was that the bedrooms lacked a TV (although the wall mounts were still in place) which I found a bit odd. I wonder if previous guests played the TV’s exceptionally loud which could have interrupted the upstairs neighbors. Speaking of neighbors, it would have been nice if the back door leading to the garage would have been frosted or had curtains because the clear glass completely exposed the apartment. However, I never once came in contact with the upstairs neighbors.
The condo is in Columbia Heights in an up and coming area of the city that’s a short walk to the Metro with tons of shops and restaurants. If you’re looking for Georgetown, this isn’t it. However if you’re looking for a safe AND funky neighborhood this is your place. When it was time to go I actually didn’t want to leave. I love DC!
I would ABSOLUTELY rent this residence during my next trip to Washington.
