The Space

Hello! Thanks for looking at our listing!
Please read my description in its entirety to see if we have a potential fit.

We look forward to hosting guests of different backgrounds and welcome you to our sunny tranquil family home in San Mateo with a view of San Francisco Bay. Our home is spacious and cozy, and is very kid friendly. Our home is ideal for vacationers or those on business, and we will always make you feel at home.

We are in an ideal location, close to hwy 101 and 280, and public transportation. We are 20 miles south of San Francisco, 30 miles north of San Jose, 36 miles west of the Tri Valley and 13 miles from half Moon Bay and beaches. We are 10-15 minutes from SFO.
If you must use public transportation, Sam Trans #53 passes close to here.

A little more about the location: You are within walking distance to the Laurelwood shopping center which includes Piazza's grocery store, and several eateries. The College of San Mateo, and Sugarloaf Park, which has hiking trails, are nearby. There is also a farmers market at CSM on Saturdays featuring lots of organic produce.

Our perfect guest is someone who loves life and sharing good conversation. We enjoy learning about different backgrounds and interests! While we would love to share our space with you, and will most likely invite you to join us when we are around, we also appreciate very self sufficient guests! We are a very busy family and need our guests to make themselves at home and take care of themselves. This means tidying after yourself like loading and unloading the dishwasher and being respectful of our home.
We do not allow smokers or any smoking on the property, inside or outside. Also, we have no TV, so bring your laptop! We have plenty of toys to share with your children- we just ask that you clean up after they enjoy them.

A little about us: We are an active household, homeschooling our young children. We speak English and Italian in our home and we have a passion for cooking, especially with fruits, veggies and herbs from our own garden. We love to experiment with gluten free international vegetarian cuisine. We love art, books, gardening, inventions and creativity in general. The animals in residence are fish and four lovely chickens who lay eggs.

About the accommodations:
(This is one of three ways to sojourn here; please refer to my other listings for the other two ways.)

Your bathroom is located in the garage-turned-into-a-schoolroom downstairs.

  • We stayed an entire week in Angela's loft space. Definitely beautiful views of the city and sunrise from bed. We were sadly too busy to spend as much time as we'd have liked with Angela and her kids but they were lovely. Thanks Angela!

  • I was on a short business trip and thought I would try staying with a family instead of the usual hotel. I was pleasantly surprised by Angela's hospitality and generosity. I had an awesome time with Angela and her two children, Sampson and Isabella! The home is beautiful with fantastic views. There's a park and open space nearby which was great for my morning run. I highly recommend a stay with Angela and her family!

  • My stay with Angela and her adorable kids was quick but comfortable. I was in the area on business and Angela was helpful in suggesting a route to get me to my meeting on time while avoiding Hwy 101. The home is in a nice residential area and was easy to find, the loft was very comfortable. It is important to note the loft is open, which was fine for me but one must be ok with not having a door.

As a bonus I left with a new supply of jokes thanks to Angela's son!

  • Angela accommodated me on short notice and she was a great host! The home is beautiful and has an amazing view of the city. Everything was clean. Angela is a great chef- try to get a taste of her specially made kombucha! Her kids are funny and a delight to be around. I felt comfortable and at home.

  • This house in San Mateo is indeed located in a very nice neighborhood! Angela, of course, a very nice host, with who you can feel free to talk to. She has majored film in college, so she is really artistic!
But, if you are gooing to visit san francisco downtown often and you don't want or not able to rent a car, I can't reconmond her nice house. For I suffered a lot from the long walk from the uphill to the train station to sanfo dowmtown........but I luckily got a ride from the nice people in san mateo every day! Haha, if you think you are lucky enough, strong-willed enough, or nature-loving enough, you can come to enjoy the nice loft view in the cute house in San Mateo!!

  • We stayed with Angela for a week during our apartment hunt. The Loft View as well as the common areas are very modern, neat and comfortable. As the name implies, the loft offers a stunning view of the city light at night. We had a dedicated the bath and shared the kitchen with our host. We enjoyed playing and talking with the kids who are brilliant and most polite.
