The cabin and the location was great. It is just 5-10 min walk from the lake. There is a great trail up the hill just behind the cabin.
There is good mobile reception but no WiFi. The place is large with 2 double beds, one bunk bed and one sofa-bed.
We had a lovely time at Dave's place. Everything went really well. We felt really relaxed there and talked about coming back with our grandchildren some time. Thank you very much Dave, for making it available. There are lovely little beaches near by in the quiet little town of Youbou. The place has a lived in feel and everything you could want was there. There were lots of movies on DVD and tape available to choose from for evening entertainment.
We had excellent communication with our host both before our trip and during. He seemed most anxious to make sure we had everything we needed and that everything was ok.
The cabin had a more lived-in feel than we had expected. It was certainly cozy and fully equipped and the ability to wash our clothes was a real plus.
We loved dining on the front porch with a view of Lake Cowichan. The 2 block proximity to the beach was also wonderful as was the hike that began right outside the back door that leads to the top of the hill (with a gorgeous view).
It was so quiet at night and we slept really well.
The cabin was great, though it needed a good sweep when we got there. The location is fantastic as it is very close to many hiking trails and a couple parks, one of which has lake access. Kitchen and bbq were both great. Really peaceful place which was great for our family trip.
