Delightful, peaceful, attic room in a spacious Victorian house in the Uplands area. Comfortable sunny double bedroom. Centrally located for Swansea, the Bay, the Prom or a bus to the Gower Peninsula; an area of outstanding natural beauty.
This is large comfortable house in the Uplands where I live with 2 friendly lodgers and the cat Lily. We have 2 shared bathrooms, a spacious kitchen/ living area opening out onto the garden and a cosy living room with a woodburner. The guest room is a private and peaceful , seperate attic room at the top of the house. Comfy bed !
Guests are welcome to use the front living-room. If you want the delights of the woodburner you are free to light it, and enjoy it. All the wood is there ready. You are also welcome to share the back living/ kitchen area. There is a large fridge and plenty of space for you to store your own provisions.
Interaction with Guests
I am often at home and happy to help you with suggestions and plans. However I work from home, so on weekdays, although I will be around I probably should be working ! At weekends I will have more time to sit and chat to you over a cup of tea !
Uplands is a bustling suburb of Swansea. At night it is very lively ! There is a monthly market and a yearly music festival;- ''Do not go Gently'' The local bars regularly have live music. The Chattery or The Garage have a variety of live sounds. Noahs Yard has great Jazz on a Monday. So much to do. . . . . .
The house is very central. You can stroll across Singleton park to Swansea University, wander to the bustling centre of Uplands, walk 10 mins down to the Prom and Swansea Bay. From there you can walk or cycle one way onto town or to the Marina or
get a bus or walk the other way to Mumbles.( 3 miles) You could go up the Meridian Tower and have a coffee while enjoying the amazing views. For days out on Gower the no 18 bus goes from the top of the road. I have maps that you can borrow. Buses go into Swansea from the Uplands regularly.
We like people to be very quiet and respectful between 11pm and 8am. Otherwise you are welcome to come and go as you please while you are our guests
Pauline is a warm and lovely person, she welcomed me into her home and made me feel as if I was home.
The room is clean and well presented, nice comfortable bed, very warm, being at the top of the house. As an attic room, the roof height was good. I speak from experience, that many attic rooms I have stayed in are functionally just a corridor.
I was in Swansea for work at the Quadrant shopping Centre and Pauline's location is just a short walk away, or a ten minute bus ride.
Street parking is a little crowded outside the property, but free parking can be found a few minute's walk away.
I would recommend Pauline's home to anyone who wishes a quite place to stay within easy reach of a busy city.
Pauline indeed has a cosy, warm attic room in a nice, quiet house and neighborhood.
She is a very positive, relaxed and warm person with excellent eye for travellers needs and interests.
Her hints and tips about things to see and experience were very helpful. We also enjoyed the company of the resident cat.
I didn't meet Pauline herself, but her son was lovely! I arrived earlier than I expected because Megabus was early and the ride over was fast, but her son greeted me, showed me how to use the key, and fed the cat when I told him Pauline asked me to. Otherwise, I largely kept to myself, enjoyed the sights, and relaxed in the beautiful room! I may have left some sand in the tub because the sand on the beach is quite sticky and I couldn't figure out how to get it to wash off (it's still on my shoes after a few days), but I couldn't ask for more. Brilliant stay, love the town. Thanks!
What can I say?? Pauline was just great :-) I had a warm welcome into her lovely home and spent a while chatting over a cup of tea. This personal touch made such a refreshing change from the anonymity of the many hotels I spend much of life in traveling around Europe!
The room was just right for me. Comfortable and quiet. The bed is especially comfy and it was the first time I have managed to get any sleep, when traveling....in months!
I really would recommend Pauline's attic room and certainly would return if my work takes me back to Swansea (which is a great town and worth the visit!)
My husband and I spent a delightful 3 nights here in Pauline's house from 14th to 17th August 2014. The room was large, light and very comfortable with a double bed, desk and table, coffee table and rocking chair and still plenty of room to walk around. Pauline was the perfect hostess. She made us feel completely at home right from the start, encouraging us to come and go as we pleased and to use her kitchen for cooking. She is a lovely happy lady. We so enjoyed our stay we wanted to extend for another 2 nights but unfortunatley she was already booked up. We will definitely come back again when we need to stay in Swnasea.
I'm originally from south east London but have lived in Swansea for 40 years. I garden, cycle, walk,do pilates and Yoga and drum. I'm very sociable. I'm self employed at the moment but trying to wangle my way out of it ! I'm a radio 4 fan and a camper van fan ! I'm generally happy to be alive and full of optimism !
