Il Casello is the most fabulous apartment, lots of character, fabulous location and absolutlely spotlessly clean. Thanks so much Giulio.
Pienza is a little dream town. Quiet and peaceful, and everyone was nice! The apartment was exactly as described and in a great location. Beautiful vistas and a lot of history. *Completely my mistake*, I did not realize there was no AC or internet, but the bottom room had "natural" AC which was good enough for sleeping. I did not meet Giulio but his daughter Caterina was very helpful and friendly! There is wi-fi available at the family's B&B, a very short walk from Il Casello. I would recommend this place to stay in Pienza, especially when the weather is a little cooler!
My wife and I have just returned from exploring the beautiful Tuscan landscape and we could not have been more happy to have Pienza's " Il Casello" as our home away from home. As this was our first Airbnb experience we were unsure of what to expect and how the process would evolve. To our delight the holiday house and the town of Pienza exceeded our expectations.
On arrival, our host made the key exchange as simple a one phone call and then we were met 5 minutes later by a charming local woman. She welcomed us and showed the apartment making sure we okay with the arrangement before leaving us to begin our week long adventure amongst the back roads and hilltop villages. We can't wait to come back.
This is one of the best locations for an apartment in Pienza - probably anywhere in Tuscany! The view at the doorstep was incredible and people (email hidden) next door to appreciate what you have right in front of you! There are little restaurants and bars all throughout the village and it has to be one of the most beautiful in Tuscany. The apartment is a good size, tastefully furnished and has a good kitchen. Giulio was an excellent host, easy to communicate with and he arranged the key transfer for us with no problems. Parking is free at the base of the hill, so no problems with the car at all. Would highly recommend!
I stayed for two weeks at "Il Casello" and had an absolutely wonderful holiday. My host, Giulio, was extremely helpful in answering all my questions before I arrived and went out of his way to ensure that I had a fantastic holiday during my stay. The apartment is tastefully furnished and decorated; meticulously clean; and everything that is needed for a stay is supplied and in perfect working order. I enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and bought luscious fruit and vegetables from the farmers' market that is held every Friday. The view from the apartment is stupendous. One day, while sipping a glass of wine with my feet up and looking out the window that opens onto the walkway, one woman stopped when she saw me and exclaimed, "Now that is just too perfect!" Pienza is a picturesque "movie-perfect" village and the surrounding countryside is what a person hopes Tuscany will be like. I rented a bike for a week and had a great time riding to nearby villages. I highly recommend Il Casello and would like to thank Giulio and his family for making me feel so welcome!
The apartment is comfortable, well-equipped and has the most amazing views to the Val D'Orcia. During our stay we were treated to some spectacular sunsets and beautiful sunrises all easily viewed from the apartment. Pienza is a lovely town and we experienced fabulous food, culture and history. We also enjoyed scenic walks from Pienza and visited the nearby towns of San Quirico D'Orcia, Montalcino, Montichiello and Castiglione D'Orcia. Each is beautiful and well worth the vist. But at the end of each day, we loved returning to Pienza and relaxing in the apartment before stepping out for a meal, coffee or gelati. Our host Giulio responded promptly to our messages and emails and provided additional information and helpful advice. A memorable stay and highly recommended.
