The house is located on the ground floor, fully renovated, sunny, welcoming and has an extraordinary view on the Natural and Cultural Park of Val d'Orcia, which is also a World Heritage Site (UNESCO World Heritage since 2004).
The apartment includes: entrance hall, lounge with TV and sofa bed, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom with shower, fully equipped.
It 'also features a cozy tavern.
To relax just look out a window of the apartment to enjoy an unique panorama over the Val d'Orcia or take a stroll through the narrow streets and Renaissance palaces and visit the many specialty shops, restaurants and cafes.
In few minutes you can immerse yourself in the area of Natural and Cultural Park of Val d'Orcia, you can observe the peculiarities of the gullies and admire its picturesque villages. This place was absolutely PERFECT. It's in the most idyllic location, looking out over the rolling hills of Tuscany. Me and my fiance actually got engaged here! I highly recommend it. Giulio is also very helpful indeed.
Staying at Il Casello is a great way to really appreciate the ambience of Renaissance Italy within Pienza and the Val D'Orcia region. As per our previous post, we enjoyed our previous stay of three days so much that we deliberately made the effort to come back to Il Casello for longer. This time, it was early Autumn which allowed us to appreciate the post-harvest colours of the Val D'Orcia. Further, Giulio and Signora Rossella are exceptional hosts whom did their best to facilitate our late check-in, as well as last minute changes to our scheduling. I hope to be back again, next time in Summer to see the Val D'Orcia in its golden glory. Arrivederci Giulio and Signora Rossella!
Il Casello was a wonderful experience for us. The apartment is part of a really old house, right in the heart of the village and with incredible views of the Tuscan countryside from the windows. It also fronts on to the most panoramic side of the town with great views from the town walls, literally three metres from the door, from the local bar, 15 metres and a really good restaurant, 5 metres away! There are more bars and eateries in the town that are mere minutes away on foot. When we were there, end of August, there was something happening in the town almost every day. Obviously this draws a crowd but in the mornings and evenings, the day visitors go, leaving us locals in the town and that is how we felt.
The surrounding towns are easily accessible by car and all have many interesting points of interest. Giulio provided us with heaps of interesting material beforehand to plan our visit. On one day, I went on a guided bike ride, organised in the town, which was a fantastic way to see the countryside. Pienza is a beautiful, old, walled town with loads of character but is also a great central point for visits in the area.
The apartment is not huge but the downstairs area means that you can spread out and have that extra space.
Giulio was a fantastic host and did everything he could to help us make the most of our stay.
We would highly recommend Pienza, the apartment and Giulio as a host.
We were very happy with our stay here. The place is charming, the facilities good, and the location could not be better - in the delightful town of Pienza, and overlooking the breathtaking countryside. We strongly recommend this place.
Hi Rob and Christine,
I'm sorry for the problem you have encountered in the checkin process and that you've given one star less for my structure. You must correctly take into account that you've arrived in advance of their estimated time without notice. Even in these cases and despite being in a moment of pause, we do our best to please the guest with a mutual understanding. Plus my phone has received your SMS late and this can happen when communication is through an international line. In fact, when it arrived to me the message notification I knew that you had already done the check. The checkin procedure, as is well specified, expressly provides to call Ms. Scarlett, but if I had received the SMS I would help you immediately.
If after these clarifications think you can revise your review Airbnb better I would be very happy.
Thank you Rob and Christine for being my guest and I hope to have you back in the future.
Amazing location. This was one of our favorite places to stay in Italy. The apartment has a beautiful view, from the window, of the surrounding countryside. And just to the right you can also see the view of the church. Pienza itself is a small and fantastic town, conveniently situated between Montalcino and Montepulciano. The apartment is nice and comfortable, with a plug in fan (definitely a must during hot summer months). We wish we had more time here and would definitely stay again.
We arrived in the beautiful, small town of Pienza, and were met by Mrs. Rosella in the center of town after contacting her. We were led to the house, which was just what we were looking for. The bed was big, the bathroom clean, and the kitchen (which we used a lot) was large enough for cooking a hearty Italian meal each night. There is a wonderful downstairs seating area (a cool respite from the warmer upstairs during the summer) that we sat and ate in each evening. The view right outside the property is phenomenal, and a perfect place to have a glass of wine at sunset. The area was safe, not overly touristy, and quiet. Parking was never an issue, and we consistently found parking spots within minutes walking distance to the property. Pienza is very centrally located within Tuscany, just a 15 minute drives to some great wine towns, and no more than an hour or two drive to at least 10 other beautiful hill-top towns in the area. We never actually met Giulio, but he was very helpful upon reserving the property, providing us with maps and suggestions of activities in the area. He was also very prompt with email. All in all, a fantastic place, in a wonderful town, in a gorgeous part of Italy.
My wife and I stayed here for our third wedding anniversary trip. The views were absolutely spectacular overlooking the beautiful Tuscan country side. Also the Internet wasn't a problem for us since we had purchased a TIM prepaid sim (bought from rome train station only took 10 minutes with assistant at desk and activated straight away) and just tethered straight off the mobile from the window sill at the apartment.
The apartment was very clean and the host was very hospitable (even though Italian was her first language we could understand exactly what she was trying to communicate). Parking wasn't a worry either since we left in the morning to explore the other Tuscan towns and would return in the evening to find parking no longer than a 5 minute walk from the apartment. Great restaurants nearby and around the corner from the apartment was a friendly dry cleaner whom does a wash and dry service (5€ per kilo when we stayed July 2013). Also there were two pharmacies we noticed in the town and a new bike hire shop in Pienza that just opened ( they have the new giant electric bikes that pulls you up the Tuscan hills effortlessly). It is worth mentioning that there was 2 banks with 2 atm's a 5 minute walk away from the apartment. Also Pienza has its own post office for delivery of postcards, parcels ect. There also is 1 petrol station that sells petrol and diesel. Pienza is such a fantastic little town with so much to offer whilst being extremely romantic and quaint.
Giulio was extremely helpful with any questions we asked before we arrived.
My wife and I would definitely stay here again. Thanks Giulio and Rosella.
Amazing apartment in brilliant location right on wall of old town.
Host was very hospitable and accommodating even though we were late arriving after getting lost on way from Rome!
Beautiful views from kitchen and bedroom.
Pienza is a great small medieval town, very classy with awesome shops and views.
Would definately go back!!
