We had a great stay at Gillian's. Perfect location for skiing. Even though we didn't get a chance to meet her, Gillian was easy to communicate with and made sure we were comfortable. We would definitely stay there again.
Gillian is a wonderful hostess - she was there in-person to receive us and show us the place, and left us breakfast food and coffee and tea - a complete life-saver. The place itself is exactly as it is shown on her profile - it's a quick 15 minute drive from Killington and even less to Woodstock, a cute little town with lots of yummy restaurants. It's the perfect place for 3 people for a quick ski getaway.
Great find on air bnb! The place served its purpose which was a place to sleep and relax. All utilities provided were definitely useful (ex. Toaster oven, fridge, and coffee maker)
Fast communication. Easy checkin/checkout. No complaints. She allowed us an early check in and was very flexible with us. The home is about 20 minutes away from Killington and is a finished attic. It has three rooms: A bedroom, a living room with a small corner for a toaster over and mini fridge, and a large bathroom. My boyfriend is 6'3" and had some issues fitting in the bathroom because of the slanted walls, but I suspect that he's in the minority of this. Either way, it's not a big deal. There are space heaters in both rooms for warmth. Gillian was wonderful and left us bottles of water and some breakfast items. It was a wonderful stay and we would love to return.
Gillian was a great host. Right from the start she was accessible with directions, blankets so we'd be warm, directions on where to go and what restaurants to try in the area. The house was halfway between the main downtown area of Woodstock and the slopes of Killington. I don't ski/snowboard but my husband and friend found it easy to get to Killington from the house (20 min drive) and I enjoyed myself in town. On Sunday it rained so we weren't able to go skiing so we enjoyed all of the breweries nearby. Long Trail was a quick drive, we tried cheeses at Plymouth, drove an hour to Harpoon Brewery and Magic Hat was two hours away in Burlington. Lots to do in the area and Gillian's a great host! She provided coffee, milk, cereal, yogurt, bananas and bottle waters. The internet and cable worked great and the bed/couches were comfortable. I accidentally tripped the cord to the heat yet the whole place stayed warm after I was gone for 8 hours. Very warm!
Perfect space for skiers looking to avoid resort crowds and prices.
The Host: Gillian was a great host. She was prompt to respond to any questions or correspondence. She was thorough in her explanations and directions. We didn't have the pleasure of meeting her on our stay as the whole house was booked but she made sure we had everything we needed before we arrived.
The Location: Was perfect! It's right off of Route 4 with some great local pubs and restaurants close by. It's about 15 minutes from Killington Skyship base lodge, and probably 30 minutes to the main entrance of Killington. The views while driving are spectacular! We avoided the crowds by parking at Skyship and were making first tracks everyday. In reference to a past review, if there was any road noise, we didn't hear it.
The Space: Was quaint and cozy! The temperature was perfect and easily adjustable with the use of the space heaters. We even turned them off at night. The bed was comfortable, and as a light sleeper, I woke feeling rested every morning. The living space was roomy and had a large L shaped sofa to relax. It also included a dining nook that sits between two windows, offering great natural light. The bathroom had a new bathtub / shower combo. The ceiling over the shower is slanted which was no problem for us, we're average height, but may be a bit awkward for anyone on the tall side.
The Amenities: Gillian provided two bottles of water, a package of English muffins, a jar of raspberry preserves (Delicious!), a stick of butter, a package of coffee grounds, a bottle of 1/2 and 1/2, various tea bags, plenty of plastic utensils, 2 large coffee cups, 4 small coffee cups and some paper plates. There is a small toaster oven, a coffee maker, a small fridge, a small television with cable, and she provided WiFi, which worked well.
Local Offerings: Ramunto's, which should really be called Andy's, was a tremendous experience. The pizza was incredible, try the Spinach and Artichoke dip pizza, or the Reuben pizza, both were fantastic! Andy is the owner/bartender. He is a great guy and I highly recommend making his acquaintance. Our trip wouldn't have been the same without spending some time at Andy's place (Ramunto's). Long Trail Brewing Company has a pub with a small menu and great beer. If you're an IPA fan I highly recommend stopping in, but they have something for everyone! The barrel aged 8.8% 25th Anniversary Imperial Stout was excellent.
Overall, we couldn't have enjoyed our stay more. I highly recommend Gillian and everything that came with our choice to stay here! When we come back, we'll definitely be staying again!
Gillian was a great host! The suite was wonderful; large couch, comfy bed, big bathroom and was fully stocked with breakfast and utensils. The location is also ideal. We were able to drive to Woodstock within 10 minutes and to Bear Mountain Lodge (Killington) within 15. The pizza place across the street was very cool- great atmosphere, pool tables and delicious pizza (order the Sicilian Vermonter). We would definitely recommend it to anyone and would love to go back!
