One bedroom, with private ensuite bathroom and an amazing view, in a big, newly renovated apartment in the most interesting and connected part of central São Paulo.
In Edificio Esther, one of the city's most important architectural treasures.
A private bedroom, with ensuite bathroom, overlooking central Praça da Republica, with full access to a newly renovated big apartment in famous Edificio Esther (check its Wikipedia page).
We've just finished renovating this beautiful two-bedroom 120m2 apartment with a fantastic view, deep ties to the best of São Paulo history, and perfect central location.
Directly below the apartment is one of São Paulo's main squares, featuring ongoing fairs and events. The apartment is within easy walking access of all of downtown São Paulo, and is a fifteen second walk to both the red and yellow metro lines - the city's main lines - which can take you to Avenida Paulista in five minutes or Faria Lima in 8.
This is the listing to rent one of two bedrooms, with full access to all common spaces. But if you're looking to rent the entire place for yourself, check out my other listed property.

I'm a foreign correspondent with a US newspaper - Look me up: @Vinncent - and travel frequently. If you rent the single room and I am there, you have full access to the whole apartment and I'm happy to help with tips or house questions, but I'm rarely home and wouldn't be in the way. If you rent the entire place (inquiries at other listing) I'm not there and it's all yours, including both bedrooms.
Either way, it's part of my job to know what's going on in São Paulo, so feel free to come to me for recommendations or info.
The apartment is in is Brazil's first modernist building an a classic example of Bauhaus inspiration, as well as being an early example of a multi-use building (we get architecture tours looking at the building every weekend) which means you can have events or use the space as you want.
In my opinion, downtown is the most vibrant and interesting part of São Paulo. Woe to those who are forced to frequent Jardins or Itaim. I live on the nicest corner of the Praça da Republica, near Praça Roosevelt, without question São Paulo's up-and-coming neighborhood.
Generally, we are quite flexible as to what you can do.
Perfect bohemian spot to start your visit of São Paulo! The building and apartment are an unique experience for people appreciating modernist architecture. The neighbourhood is a gentle mixture of the popular and hipster crowd. Metro connection is perfect. And the host, Vincent, is a very helpful, easy going and extremely knowledgeable dude. Would stay again of I get another chance.
This place was located right next to a main train stop (republica), we felt safe and it was perfect for what we needed. We did not use the kitchen or living area, but both were accessible to us if we wanted.
Excellent host. Offered to help with other things too, such as transfers. Great place in perfect location.
The apartment is amazing – if you're a sucker for modernism then this is the place to stay, both in terms of the building itself, and the architecture nearby (Niemeyer's Copan, for instance, is just a few minutes walk away).
Vincent was a great host – lots of fun, and knew some great places to eat and drink. Was in SP for a few days for work. On previous visits I'd stayed in hotels on the other side of town – which might be quieter, but are a lot less fun – this felt a lot less lonely than being stuck in a hotel room for sure. Centro has some amazing places to hang out, markets and food stalls etc. On the ground always noisy (but the room is on the seventh floor so you can't hear it from there) and full of people and life. The metro and a cab rank are about ten seconds away to get to other parts of the city. All in all, you'd be a dumb to book anywhere else.
A friend of mine from Berlin was coming to São Paulo and needed a place to stay. Since he´s got no Airbnb profile I managed to find a room for him. After visiting Rio, Paraty and a few other cities in Brazil, he got completely amazed by São Paulo´s donwtown and most of all by Vincent´s bright and well designed apartment. Nevertheless to say, that Vincent and Lolla (his flatmate) were really easygoing and great hosts.
