The space
****COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS: We don’t want to get sick, and understand that you don’t want to get sick either, so we are being proactive and have implemented extra cleaning procedures in light of the inevitable U.S. virus spread, such as: all doorknobs, handles, light switches, TV remotes, and house keys are being disinfected between each stay, rooms are sprayed with an aerosol Lysol disinfectant spray, and linens are washed in hot water.****

Sawyer Guesthouse sits just behind the main house and was recently fully remodeled. This house has a beautiful open layout with 780 square feet and 2 bedrooms with 1 full bath. As this is a rear guesthouse, the backyard is shared between the main house and this guesthouse. You can see Texas Tech from street in front of the house so it is within easy walking distance to the University, shops, boutiques, and part of Lubbock nightlife. It is fully furnished and the kitchen is fully equipped for any cooking you may want to do during your stay. The house has a driveway right next to it where 2 small cars are able to park or there is street parking in front of the main house. AMENITIES: Bedding, linens, towels, hair dryer, shampoo and conditioner are all on hand for your use as well as all the other usual amenities you would anticipate having in a hotel. Parking is available on paved driveway or on street in front of the house, Washer/Dryer, WiFi internet, Netflix & HuluPlus (no cable but do have local channels via antennae) and a coffee maker. Allow the Sawyer Guesthouse to be your home away from home for your stay in Lubbock!

Guest access
As a guest of mine, you have full access to the guesthouse. The main house in front may also have guests during your stay. You do not have access to the main house. The back yard is shared by the two houses. Sawyer Guesthouse guests are asked to be respectful of the main house and it's guests and visa versa.

Other things to note
For check out: you are required to take out your own trash and wash and put away any dishes you used during your stay. You can purchase and bring throw-away paper good/utensils if you don't want to have to wash dishes.

Please read my House Rules prior to booking! By booking this space, you acknowledge that you have read and are in agreement that you and your fellow guests will comply with the rules of the house during your stay.

Location

Lubbock, Texas, United States

The Sawyer House is located in one of the oldest neighborhoods in Lubbock. The neighborhood, which is located directly across from Texas Tech, has many older unique homes built in the late 20's and 30's. Most are student rentals with a mix of run down fixer uppers and new or remodeled builds. Most of the residents are students. One of my favorite parts about this part of town is that there are many thriving local restaurants and businesses in the area, in a city of mostly chain stores. If you are looking for night life, the Sawyer House is located right in between Lubbock's two bar districts known to locals as "Broadway" and "The Depot". Definitely check out La Diosa Cellars my fav wine & tapas bar and McPherson Cellars right across the street! Drive ~5min down 19th st and stand-up paddleboard with SUPLBK on 76 acre Dunbar Historic Lake! (wknds only) For families with kids: The Science Spectrum is a must. TTU's Natural History Museum is also really cool. Especially look into showings at the Planetarium attached to the museum. Nearby is also the Ranching and Heritage Center for more history on how the first settlers in the once great plains of west Texas lived.

Booking on Airbnb can sometimes be scary, please allow me to introduce you to true Airbnb hospitality! 80% of my guests are first-time Airbnb users and I consider it my business to make your experience one in which you would prefer no other way of traveling! It is my joy to create spaces for people to enjoy. My houses are definitely a labor of love and an ongoing process! I began my Airbnb journey in January 2013 due to extreme financial need by hosting guests on the couch in the living room of my apartment in Austin. I wouldn't be where I am today without Airbnb and my guests! And thanks to both, I am now able to stay home and raise my young children. As a part of my dedication to providing premium hospitality to my guests, I attended Airbnb's very first Host Open in San Francisco in November '14! Also, I was nominated by a past guest for the 'Hero' award and was chosen by Airbnb as a finalist. There were only 5 finalists in each of the 4 award categories. It was an extreme honor to be one of 20 hosts chosen out of 650,000 Airbnb hosts globally! I was also in attendance at Airbnb's 2nd Annual Host Open in Paris, France Nov '15. A little about me: Someone once described me to another person by singing the first few lines of Tom Petty's Free Falling. I find this pretty accurate. A born and raised Texan from the home of Buddy Holly, I grew up driving tractor on a very large cotton farm run solely by my family. I have lived in Austin since 2009. I have been an active host to travelers for 11 years now through various sites (7 years on Airbnb) and am a travel bug myself. I have traveled: China, Canada, England, Scotland, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, Turkey, Greece, Albania, Spain, Indonesia, and Puerto Rico. My favorite place I've traveled was Turkey. My where-to-travel-next list includes: Madagascar, Mongolia, Morocco, and Nepal. I love learning languages and speak Chinese conversationally along with bits and pieces of various other languages. I am an entrepreneur & mom. In my past I was a product developer and professionally trained taste tester for Whole Foods corporate. Wife and new mom. I believe life is a beautiful mess of opportunities. I admit to being a food snob. Life is just too short to not eat good food. My favorite food is Thai. I love old movies, salsa dancing, karaoke, and spontaneous dance parties--even solo ones--basically anything where I look like a total fool. Keeps me humble.
