♥ Aloha ♥

We are renting our adorable mini cottage, perfectly suitable for a solo explorer (yes, sorry, one person only). This cottage has been built for a music studio and has a great airflow and ample of sunlight.

There is a comfy full-size loft bed and a composting toiled (in the summer months April-Sept use for No1 only). You have access to our main house bathroom to use the toilet or to shower at night. Outdoor shower has an on demand gas heater and the area is very private.

We provide LINENS & TOWELS, wifi, a semi-outdoor kitchenette with a mini fridge, microwave and toaster oven. Table and chairs. The area is covered, private and cozy.

The greatest perk is the LOCATION
: 5-10 minute walk to Wailua beach
: 10 minute walk to an amazing Sleeping Giant hiking trail
: 10 min walk to Wailua river
: 5-10 minute walk to great restaurants, such as Kintaros (great sushi), Mema (awesome Thai), Cafe Coco (Eclectic world cuisine, nice place), Monicos Taverna (authentic Mexican food), Brick Oven Pizza, Passion Bakery and Cakes shop.
: 5 min drive to Kapaa town
Plus exploring Kauai by car is great from our location, as we are positioned right in between the North shore and South shore.

We have close connections with activities and things to do on Kauai - horseback tours, photo tour guides, kayak guides, photographers, yoga instructors and concierges who can help you get the most out of your Kauai experience.
When possible, we can arrange to pick up and drop off from airport.

You may meet us upon arrival and if you would like we would be happy to go out with you for a walk or a drink, otherwise you're on your own to enjoy our mini cottage and the Island. If you need anything from our end we're a simple message away.

  • I was so pleased with my experience at Mark and Maryna's. The cottage worked perfectly, and was very comfortable. Mark and Maryna are warm and welcoming, and are great to talk to about activities on Kauai or anything else. I would highly recommend this accommodation!

  • The cottage was great and Mark and Marina were great hosts! I rented the car as well and was thrilled by how much of the island it permitted me to see. Can't wait to return!

  • Mark and Maryna are very lovely, friendly folks who wanted me to be comfortable and have the best experience on Kauai. They were also concerned when my arrival was late and waited up for me. The cottage was clean and quiet providing everything I needed. I would certainly stay there again and recommend their place.
    Love the outdoor shower.

  • I stayed 4 nights in the cottage. Great laid-back, clean and quiet place with a comfy bed. The outdoor shower is great. The compostable toilet might not be for everyone, but Maryna gave me the option to use the bathroom in the house. The location is convenient, a great base camp for exploring the island and perfect for a single traveler. Maryna and Mark are great hosts - mahalo for everything!

  • The cottage is compact neat and tidy. Maryna leaves some nice little bits like drinks in the fridge and some nibbles. You are also welcome to use the house. It is in a comfortable setting. The outdoor shower is good but I am not sure the compost toilet in the cottage is such a great idea - I would have preferred it separate like the shower. The cottage works for one and probably someone used to camping and able to climb the ladder to the mezzanine bed which was comfortable with little shelves to put things on. I chose to take the chair and sit outside the cottage in the garden in the mornings to have breakfast which was nice.

  • I had a great time, the location was perfect, a quiet suburban street not too far from the beach and shops. I even walked there from the cottage. Kapaa is the perfect base if you want to explore the island. I stayed 5 days and could have stayed longer if only more nights had been available.
The hosts were friendly, open and helpful and as a single traveller I had the peace of mind that if need be, I would have instant company and knowledgeable guides on hand. As it turned out, I didn't see much of Mark and Maryna because I was too busy exploring the island. Another bonus was the guidebook that comes with the cottage. Written by a god friend of Mark's it contains every bit of information you could possibly need on the best hiking, beaches etc. That really was an unexpected bonus.
The cottage looks just like it does in the photos, it had everything I needed and I loved the outdoor shower. The composting toilet might not be to everyone's taste, but there is always the option to use the main bathroom and kitchen in the main house. I preferred the privacy of the cottage which is shielded from sight by vegetation and it really was the perfect little hideway for a wonderful trip. I highly recommend the place and would come again without hesitation.

  • I had the pleasure of spending 6 great days in the mini cottage for a Solo Explorer in mid-February 2014. The cottage is just perfect for a single traveller. Others have mentioned the outdoor shower and composting toilet - these were very easy to use and work well. The bed in the loft was also very comfortable.

Mark and Maryna are fabulous hosts and Mark (Woogie) is a gold mine of information about walking opportunities on the island. Both M+M are very knowledgeable about all the island has to offer and are happy to share this information with you and if staying, ask Mark (or should that be Tarzan ?) to see some of his amazing photos !

The cottage is adjacent to the main house on the property and the location is excellent - Kapaa has easy access to both the Na Pali coast and to Waimea canyon. There are numerous eating opportunities and good supermarkets nearby too. You are welcome to use the facilities in the house and I did this, spending most evenings in the lounge chatting with a fellow traveller which was nice.

During my time on Kauai it was very wet but this didn't prevent us doing lots of great hiking on the island. You'll find Kauai is a treasure trove of fun things to do and don't let a little rain stop you - it is a paradise and seeing it in the rain is just fine (great waterfalls). You could easily spend a month on the island and not get bored. The Sleeping Giant just behind the house is a must, by the way...

I'd definitely recommend this property to others - it was great.

It was a true pleasure to have you with us, Richard. Thank you for stopping by Kauai on your way home and for choosing our cottage for your stay here. Mahalo and we wish you joyous travels.

  • I stayed 4 nights at the Mini Cottage. Mark and Maryna are friendly and helpful and the cottage is nice and clean. The location is convenient for exploring any part of the island, you can walk to a nice beach in about 15 minutes and there is a Sleeping Giant hiking trail not far from the house. I did this hike on my first day on Kauai, which is great to get a really nice overview of this part of the island. Also the bed is comfortable and it is quiet at night so it is easy to sleep...

  • Hi my name is Susanne and I am from Germany. I stayed 4 days/nights at Maryna and Marks accommodation. It was really nice to stay at this sweet cottage in their garden. Everything was clean and fine. Also I enjoyed the great shower outside. It was a really beautiful experience. The cottage is for one person perfect, everything you need is in it. I also had no problems with the special toilet in the cottage. It was very nice from my host, that I could used the house anytime. This was no problem. Both, Maryna and Mark, were very friendly and perfect hosts and at my next trip to Kaua'i I would enjoy to stay there again. The two are very helpful and courteous. Thank you so much, Maryna and Mark for staying at your sweet location.
