About This Listing
This is the first house built at Timber Cove by the founder of Timber Cove Properties (Dick Clements) and served as the model showcase for what future Timber Cove development would look like. This rustic and rural house was designed and built by the same architect (Dick Clements) who designed and built the world famous Timber Cove Inn (one mile south). Beautiful get a way vacation house at Timber Cove on the Sonoma Coast. The house is a fairly large, lodge-style house which sits on two acres of private land surrounded by grassy meadows, the Timber Cove Creek, Redwoods and Pine trees. Walking distance to Highway One and the Pacific ocean, the picturesque house features a dramatic redwood construction and entire walls consisting of windows in almost every room. The living room is highlighted by a massive stone-lined walk in fireplace. An outdoor hot tub offers partial ocean views and the serenity of the Sonoma Coast. The house was built around 1960 and its original appearance has been maintained.
Beautiful house sits on two acres of private land making it quite and secluded. However, the house is well situated to nearby beaches, restaurants, wine tasting rooms, Highway One, Pacific Ocean, etc.
In terms of accessing the house at check in (starting at 4 pm), the back door adjacent to the carport will be left unlocked and a copy of the key will left on the dining room table.

Rustic and Charming house in a beautiful location. Really off the grid. Good communication from owner. If you are prepared to deal with the quirks of this older property it makes for a nice getaway for a large group of people.
Thank you Dean for your review and we are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We are in the process of replacing the hot tub. We have recently installed solar panels on the house to power central heating and we are in the process of upgrading the electrical systems at the house as well.
They wasn't any neighborhood and it was a Beautiful area and the wifi doesn't really work
Thank you Thethe. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Timber Cove. Some folks have had problems logging into the WiFi network. The password is a little cryptic. I want to simplify the password, which was assigned by the router. It is clear in the Timber Resource Guide and next to the wireless router, but the string of characters is too long.
A true Northern California gem. I highly recommend it if your into making big fires and getting as far away from city life as possible. The Beardsley House has the best views and privacy you could ask for.
Beautiful location and Michael (host) was very easy to get in touch with.
We had a great time at the Beardsley House. The weather was beautiful during our stay so we took full advantage of the nearby beaches. Stump Beach was our favorite with a beautiful hike along the cliffs. We loved spending the evening in by the fire. No cell reception at the house but the wifi worked well enough.
Mara, i am pleased that you and your boy friend had a great time at our house at Timber Cove. So happy that the weather was so nice up at Timber Cove and you made the right choice by going to Stump Beach for hiking and beach combing, quite a spectacular place. No cell phone coverage at Timber Cove but we have a land line phone in the house should you have needed to make any phone calls. Please return again, we would extend a 10% discount on the nightly rate.
Regards, Michael B.
There's things about this house I loved and some that I found unexceptable.
One, it is very cold in the house. The central heating doesn’t work (something I was not informed about until after the booking), the place is not insulated and does not hold heat. There are multiple space heaters around, but we could not run more than one at a time otherwise the circuit breaker trips (it has happened multiple times). The fireplace and stove are a nice touch, but do nothing unless you are sitting directly in front of them. There is so much open space in the house that it just can't warm up and we couldn't get cozy in the evenings. We slept with a pile of blankets on top of us directly in front of the one space heater we could run. In the mornings we sat in the car with the heater on to warm up. Even though it was January we were lucky that it was unseasonably warm, but I think this home wouldn't be comfortable unless it was summer time.
Secondly, there is a big hole in the french doors leading out of the dinning room to the backyard that a bat flies in and out of. I am not the first review to mentioned the problem of a bat flying around the house.
I think the location is lovely, but quite honestly, for $225 a night I wasn’t expecting to be very cold and flipping breakers just trying to keep warm. During the summer months this home would be a nice place especially for a large group of people. The views are very beautiful and the location is right off of hwy 1 in one of the most beautiful parts of California in my opinion. Yet, the point of my stay was to rest and relax, but at night it wasn't very relaxing for us. I did write to the owner after the first night but didn't receive a response for several days (and after my credit card had been billed). His response is that there are lots of space heaters in the house to use (again which we could only run one at a time) and he never even acknowledged the bat problem. He has offered a 35% discount on a future stay for our first night. I used Airbnb many times over the years and usually hosts are very responsive and accommodating but the customer service left much to be desired; I definitely won't be booking another stay here.
Kami, i am sorry that you were cold at night and there was the issue with the bat. I think we provided ample description of the house and the fact we rely on a large walk in fireplace in the Living Room and the Fisher Wood Burning Stove in the Dining Room as the primary source of heat in the house. In addition, many guests turn on the ceiling fans in both the Dining Room and Living Room which circulates the warm air throughout the rest of the house. But apparently you did not read any of these documents. We also mentioned the issue when all space heaters are turned on simultaneously, that this may activate the circuit breakers but apparently you never read that either. We are in the process of installing solar panels on the roof and will be implementing a solar powered heating system in the house and intend to narrow the gap between the french doors leading to the back yard to prevent birds and bats from coming into house. Many people love to stay in our house in the fall, winter, and summer months but we realize that its open architecture, entire walls of pannelled glass, and rural nature are not for everyone.
Very nice cabin, larger than expected. We got a bit of a fright when a bat suddenly started flying about the cabin, however other than that small problem, we had a great time.

Timber Cove is a very special place for me and my family and brings back many childhood memories when my family spent summers there. We know that you will enjoy our house and the beautiful Sonoma Coast as well.
