'Bear Family' is a huge 5 Bedroom, 5 Bathroom cabin located above Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg, TN about .3 miles from downtown. The views are spectacular. We pride ourselves in the quality of lodging and service we provide.
This is a mountain top retreat. Literally built on the mountaintop, this five bedroom, four bathroom comfortably sleep fourteen people. Three King beds available. We are a privately owned, operated, and maintained company and this lets us provide you with an exceptional quality of service that is hard to match.
This cabin is fully equipped with a deluxe kitchen, washer & dryer, free wireless broadband internet, plenty of parking, a yard to play in, and mountain views to enjoy.
Interaction with Guests
Service is our primary focus. We will be here for any needs, directions, relaxation or entertainment advice, or any other thing you could need. If you need nothing we can actually get you directly to your property without ever needing to come to an office.
We sit above it all. Being on top of the mountain down a freshly paved road in a cabin with enough yard to play in is a great experience.
Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge use a trolley system that has a stop at the bottom of the road before you even get back in to the center of downtown Gatlinburg. We are above the Ripley's Aquarium. Free parking is provided in town for all of our guests at our office at 431 Parkway.
Other Things to Note
Let us help you make the best of your vacation.
No smoking is allowed in any of our properties.
Our experience at Bear Family was an amazing one. Every member of our party was able to find a favorite spot at the cabin -- the porch, the hot tub, the balconies -- they all were beautiful and engulfed by the mountains. We had no idea that this listing would be at the TOP of the road it sits... It gave an amazing view of the Smokies, one that changed every day. We would highly recommend this cabin! Venus Lodges was awesome, and so was Bobbie, an employee we spoke with a few times. The heater did go out, but they were quick to act by providing space heaters (thanks, Salvador!) and even offering to let us move cabins (totally wasn't necessary). Thank you for an amazing stay, and we can't wait to come back to the smokies!
Contact with the host was relatively easy via airbnb and telephone. They aren't kidding when they say this house is at the top of a mountain -- be prepared for a winding road with major switchbacks to get there.
The view really is outstanding and the neighborhood is quiet. The house, however, is not quiet -- with all wooden construction, noises are amplified, so if you've got kids in the house or are sensitive to the noise of your fellow vacationers, bring your ear plugs.
Here is the layout: the door opens to a great room with the kitchen to your left, stairs to your right and then a living and dining area towards the back (facing the view). There is a door to the left that access a bedroom with a king and adjoining bath with a jacuzzi tub and separate shower. Likewise, on the right, a door leads to a similarly appointed room and bath.
The stairs lead up to a rec room that includes a pool table, fooz ball table and a full over full bunkbed next to the windows with the aforementioned incredible view. A door to the right leads to a small gable bedroom with a double or queen bed and a door to the left leads to a similar room. A door to the rear leads to a bedroom with a king and adjoining bath with a shower/tub. The rec room also includes access to a communal bathroom with a shower/tub.
Bring your dishwasher detergent, dish soap and laundry detergent.
The hot tub is EXCELLENT and has a wonderful view. We especially loved to use it when it was cold.
We found the property was safe for children (we have a 3 and 4 year old) as the porches have well-maintained railings and there is a flat area for playing.
The kitchen has adequate supplies in terms of pots and pans, but if you have a favorite utensil or pan, I'd bring it.
The beds were very comfortable with soft sheets and a nice, firm mattress. There is also a new flat screen television in the living room, which is not pictured on this site.
We really enjoyed our stay, and if you want to avoid the G-burg traffic, we'd recommend coming up the back way (from the park via the Gatlinburg bypass and then taking Campbell Lead Road).
This property met if not exceeding my expectations and we'd come back for sure!
The cabin was exactly as described! The location was convenient to the strip and the views are great! I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone!
I'm glad to hear you had a great stay with us. We do apologize for the inconvenience you had with the towels. We normally have 12 towels at Bear Family and guests can get more towels upon request. We have stopped putting extra towels because people tend to steal them. I hope we can make your trip even better next time, and also give you additional towels. Once again, our apologies if your wants could not be met.
We had an awesome stay at the Bear Family Cabin. The cabin came as advertised, and the view was amazing. Bobby was a very accommodating host. He even let us use his private parking space down town for free. I would definitely go back again.
