Cozy, inviting, one bedroom apartment in the heart of Bayview, literally steps away from some of Milwaukee's best restaurants, bars and shops! One of two Airbnb guest spaces in our house, this downstairs apartment is our home base when we're in Milwaukee, and we love sharing it with guests when we’re on the road! We are within five minutes of Summerfest grounds and East Side & Historic Third Ward districts, and within 10 minutes of the airport, downtown, Marquette University, and Miller Park.

The space
While it's partially below ground level due to its "Polish Flat" construction, it's definitely not your typical basement apartment! The lovingly decorated space features lots of light, an open concept kitchen/living room, full bathroom with Victorian clawfoot tub, cozy and comfortable bedroom, private access to our enclosed outdoor patio, and its own locking interior entrance. Our house is a block from the epicenter of Bayview, which is home to some of Milwaukee's best and best-loved bars, restaurants, shops and coffee houses.

Guest access
The apartment is fully self contained; though it shares the front door and foyer with the upper unit, both floors have their own locking interior entrances. As guests of the downstairs unit, you will have private access to our enclosed patio - our favorite spot for happy hour in the warmer months!

Other things to note
STAIRS: There is a half flight of steps leading to the front door and a steep, curving narrow flight of stairs leading from your private entrance down into the apartment.

PARKING: As we live in an area that requires permits for overnight parking, we offer garage parking to our guests. **Disclaimer...We moved in not long ago, and while the garage is fully functional, it's *very* old and in need of an overhaul. With that said, our beat up garage is your beat up garage :) If you have a large truck or oversized vehicle, it may not fit in the garage. If this is the case you can easily call in your license plate to the city parking department for free overnight street parking for up to three nights (four if one of them happens to be a Saturday night).

LOWER UNIT: As this space is located beneath another Airbnb guest apartment, light sleepers should be aware that you will likely hear footsteps from upstairs during your stay. We do provide both earplugs and a white noise machine, but if you require extreme quiet in order to sleep, this may not be the best fit.

HEATING/AC: The downstairs unit does not have central AC, but being partially below ground it maintains a fairly cool baseline temperature. We also provide a window AC unit and box fans in the summer, which has always kept things nice and cool even on the hottest days. In winter, the space is heated with radiant heat. We ask that you turn the AC unit off when leaving the house for any length of time in the summer.

Neighborhood highlights

Bayview is, in our (perhaps biased, but widely shared) opinion, the coolest and friendliest neighborhood in Milwaukee. We're in love with it and wouldn't want to live anywhere else! It's an incredibly friendly, fun and diverse part of the city...though it's become one of Milwaukee's most desirable areas in recent years, and is home to so many of the city's best bars and restaurants, it still feels very much like a neighborhood. The people are friendly and down to earth, there's no end of nearby options for food, drink and entertainment, and it's an awesome area for walking, jogging or riding bikes.
