Charming original 1880's Pullman workers flat in a wonderfully diverse community off the beaten path - Now a National Monument! Artists, historians, preservationists, architects, urban planners... Great place for creatives and explorers visiting Chicago! Your stay supports our visiting artist program. Please tell us a little about yourself.

The space
Enjoy the entire 2nd Floor apartment of an original 1880's Pullman workers two flat row house. The building has been converted to Artist Live/Work Space (working art studio on the 1st floor / apartment on 2nd floor - you will be renting the entire private 2nd floor apartment). Kitchen (with everything you need), relaxed backyard, washer dryer in the basement (if desired, by request). The building has been featured on several Historic Pullman House Tours over the years. Unique space with lots of original charm. 20-30 minutes to downtown Chicago via metra train or quick access to the highway. Located in the heart of the Pullman Landmark District (Now a National Monument and part of the US National Park Service!).

Explore The Historic Pullman community via our Labor Tour guide (take a selfie while on tour and send it to us and we'll put it on our page! #mosnart). Walk to the Visitor Center and talk to a Park Ranger about the history of Pullman with interesting artifacts and more! Stroll through Arcade Park and gaze at the incredible restoration/renovations occurring at the Florence Hotel (and maybe witness an impromptu installation by our prolific Knit 'n Crochet group)... then meander down the street to be charmed by the architecture of the Greenstone Church, keep going and you will run into our new organic urban farm / food justice project (the Cooperation Operation). Hop on the Metra train (Metra Electric line) for a quick 20-30 min ride to all the downtown attractions Chicago has to offer (drops you at the center of everything; Millennium Park, Cultural Center, The Art Institute of Chicago...also stops at the Museum Campus (The Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum, The Field Museum, and The Shedd Aquarium), McCormick Place and Hyde Park U of C campus). Go the other way on the metra train and can wander a world class sculpture park Free! Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park (The Nate)
One bedroom has a full size very comfortable bed that sleeps two. The study can also serve as a second bedroom with a modernist chaise lounge that folds down to a daybed for an additional guest if needed. Linens and towels are provided. Check-in check-out times are flexible unless there is someone else coming / going on the same date(s). In that case check-out is 11:00am or before and check-in is 3:00 pm or after. There is plenty of free street parking.

ART: Your stay helps support the mosnart artist residency here in Pullman. We invite artists from all over the world to come interact with the history, community, and architecture here by creating art installations of exceptional quality.

NOTES ON PULLMAN: The Pullman community is located on the far south side of Chicago and is in my opinion one of the most interesting and diverse areas of the city. People come from all over the world to see the historical remains (incredibly intact) of an industrialists utopia once touted "the worlds most perfect town" (now a National Monument) and learn about Eugene V. Debs and our Labor History. It is not the gold coast or your typical Chicago tourist spot but is instead a multicultural community engaged in preservation, restoration and re-purpose/reuse. There is a big box super store within walking distance with some organics as well as an eccentric diner/restaurant for fluffy pancakes (breakfast/lunch), a small cafe across from the Greenstone Church (see menu in pics), and a new food hall on 111th street, but most of your shopping /dining will likely be outside of the community (Hyde Park is a short drive or train ride away with lots of dinning and shopping choices, etc). Pullman is truly unique and filled with charm (and only 20-30 mins to downtown Chicago). I'm pretty sure you will fall in love.

Please contact to confirm availability and let me know a little about yourself. Ask all the questions you like!

Free WiFi. Backyard. Kitchen w/ pots, pans, salad spinners, coffee maker/grinder, tea pot and dual high quality hot plate (no dishwasher). Organic salad garden (in season). Washer/Dryer (if you let me know in advance). Fully furnished apartment w/ most everything you need!

Happy to show you around the neighborhood (if available and desired) and get you settled in. I'm just down the block if you need anything. Also text or phone.

Public Transportation: The Metra Electric train runs from Pullman to the Chicago loop on a posted time schedule every few minutes during rush hours to once an hour during the rest of the day/evening Monday through Saturday and every two hours on Sunday. It is a 20 - 30 min ride to downtown. The last train of the evening leaves the Chicago loop 12:50 am. You can find a complete schedule on line at the metrarail site by looking up the Metra Electric Line (ME). The Kensington / 115th Street station is an easy 3 block walk from the flat and takes you to Millennium Park station in the heart of downtown Chicago. Most everyone loves the incredibly comfortable and quick train ride! If you are going to be taking it back and forth you can buy a 10 ride pass, Also offered are weekend passes with unlimited rides... Lots of Pullman people commute to downtown everyday!

Public Transportation from the airports: O'Hare: Take the blue line el to the Washington stop and walk over to the metra station at Randolph and Michigan Ave. Take the Metra Electric University Park train to Kensington/115th station and walk 3 blocks to the flat. Very easy. Midway: Take the orange line el to the Randolph/Wabash stop and walk over to the metra station at Randolph and Michigan Ave. Take the Metra Electric University Park train to Kensington/115th station and walk 3 blocks to the flat. Very easy.

Auto travelers: We are easily accessible via interstate 94. Downtown is 20-30 mins away via car depending on traffic of course. Plenty of free street parking!

No Smoking.

The flat is not childproof and really isn't suitable for young kids.

Need more space? Contact us. We occasionally rent the artist residency space between our visiting artists stays. Inquire.

Where you’ll be

Chicago, Illinois, United States

The entire town of Pullman was built in the 1880's as an industrialists utopian community to house his factory workers. It remains remarkably intact and is now part of the City of Chicago. Pullman has recently been designated a National Monument and is part of the US National Park Service (bring your NPS passport!) with friendly Park Rangers, self-guided and organized tours, a visitor center, and more. Explore labor history, model towns / planned communities, gilded age industrialism, all in a living/breathing community filled with preservationists, artists, creatives and the friendliest people you will find anywhere.

NOTES ON PULLMAN: The Pullman community is located on the far south side of Chicago and is in my opinion one of the most interesting and diverse areas of the city. People come from all over the world to see the historical remains (incredibly intact) of an industrialists utopia once touted "the worlds most perfect town" (now a National Monument). Conceptual artist loves to explore...

I've traded homes with artist friends from all over the USA and Europe and have shared spaces with dear friends and acquaintances long before airbnb was created (airbnb now expands those possibilities!). I think this is by far the most interesting and rewarding way to travel and experience some "there" there. I look forward to hosting and staying.

Looking forward to meeting you...
