Interaction with Guests
We are also Air BnB travelers and appreciate the advantage of asking hosts the inside scoop of their town, so we get that. Ask us where to go eat, hike, bike, or shop and we're happy to offer suggestions because we love our town!
North Asheville is an easy drive to so many places. 10 minutes north of the Biltmore, it's a straight drive there, you don't even need to get on the interstate. We're 2 miles from the Grove Park Inn, another favorite spot to visit, built around the same time as the Biltmore. It's interesting and fun to visit, plus it's free!
We're 2.5 miles off of 240 the main hub around Asheville. We also live on the infamous Elk Mountain Scenic Highway bike ride that goes straight up to the Blueridge Parkway (5 miles up) and around to Town Mountain Road. Just ask us for directions! This is a beautiful and scenic ride by car or bike. Theres a bike shop 1 mile from us, rent bikes and bike downtown on quiet streets. The bus is a little less than a mile from us and goes downtown and other areas.
Other Things to Note
We're pretty quiet, watch a little tv in the evening and head to bed around 11, up at 7, then off to work. We work for ourselves so have a flexible schedule.
We have wi-fi, but not cable TV. We watch DVD's or hulu from our computer. Bring your own tablet or computer and log into our network.
We have a washer and dryer downstairs in a separate area from your apartment. But there might be a time I'd like to ask you if I can do a load of laundry. If you're not comfortable with that, it's perfectly fine. Communication is key!
• Be considerate and kind.
• We welcome your well-behaved dog if it doesn't bark while you are away, and is house broken for sure. We don't have a fenced yard, but there is a yard to bring them outside, and clean up after them. They need to be on flea meds as we don't want an infestation for the next visitors.
• We have two cats, they don't go downstairs.
• No smoking.
• Check-in after 3
• Check-out 11.
• Ask us, if there aren't guests in front or behind you we can be flexible on those times.
Our stay was absolutely perfect. Susan was a very friendly and helpful host. Their home is in a beautiful location, we loved the artistic style, and it was minutes from downtown. The suite space was more than enough, very comfortable and has a private entrance. They had the fireplace ready to be lit and theirs even a futon if traveling with other guests. Susan and her husband are working on adding a bathroom and kitchenette area in the suite but there is already a fridge/freezer and coffee maker along with a table and chairs with a great view through the bay window. They allowed us to bring our gentle lab and were very welcoming to him. We would love to stay here again.
Susan and her husband were great hosts! My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay in their home. When we got there they made us feel very welcome and even started a fire in the fire place. We would definitely stay there again!
My boyfriend and I planned an impromptu trip to Asheville to celebrate our anniversary, and Sue was a lovely hostess! The suite was very cozy and even had a real wood-burning fireplace. She had a list of recommendations for us and tried to accommodate us in any way she could! We had a lovely time here. We will be back.
Susan's place was perfect for us. My son and I felt welcomed and comfortable. Susan had the fireplace ready - all we had to do it light it and enjoy. There was plenty of extra wood as well.
My daughter goes to UNC Asheville - so it was convent for us. We even hung out at the room one night to play cards and enjoy the fire.
They gave us great suggestions on where to eat and places to go. Our new favorite restaurant is Sunny Pointe Cafe!
I highly recommend.
Photos and description of this listing are accurate and we were very pleased with our stay. Susan and Tom were very friendly and were great hosts that made themselves available if we needed anything, wanted to chat or had any questions about the area. The room is very clean and comfortable and the bed is SO comfortable. The wood burning stove that was just installed keeps the room toasty on the cold nights in winter. Definitely felt like a home away from home and the location is great! Only a few minutes drive to downtown AVL but also near a lot of great places in north Asheville and to 240 East to get to West Asheville and the River Arts District. We would definitely stay here again and just may!
Susan and Tom were great hosts, and their place was really nice and exactly as described in the listing. They were very accommodating and friendly.
The room is large and comfortable (SUPER comfy bed), and has basically everything you need. They're planning to put a bathroom downstairs, as they've noted in their listing, and it will be even better then, though we had no problems going upstairs to use the bathroom up there.
We mostly used the place for sleeping and getting ready, spending most of our time out enjoying Asheville, and it was great for that. We took Uber most places, and it was a ~$10 Uber ride from downtown, and a ~$22 ride from the Biltmore Estate, for any potential guests interested in that info.
I definitely recommend the place for anyone looking for a nice place to stay in Asheville!
Awesome neighborhood close to UNC Asheville. The space felt more like an apartment than just a room--huge, with lots of privacy. Very spa-like, quiet, and calming, as well as puppy-friendly. We would definitely stay again.
