Interaction with Guests
We are also Air BnB travelers and appreciate the advantage of asking hosts the inside scoop of their town, so we get that. Ask us where to go eat, hike, bike, or shop and we're happy to offer suggestions because we love our town!
North Asheville is an easy drive to so many places. 10 minutes north of the Biltmore, it's a straight drive there, no need to get on the interstate. We're 2 miles from the Grove Park Inn, another favorite spot to visit, built around the same time as the Biltmore. An interesting and fun to visit, made of boulders in the side of a mountain, with views, restaurants and shops, plus it's free! and free to visit.
We're 2.5 miles off of 240 the main hub around Asheville. It's only a $5 Uber ride from downtown if you want to park here and leave your vehicle behind. We also live on the infamous Elk Mountain Scenic Highway bike ride that goes straight up to the Blueridge Parkway (5 miles up) and around to Town Mountain Road. Just ask us for directions! This is a beautiful and scenic ride by car or bike. There's a bike shop 1 mile from us, rent bikes and bike downtown on quiet streets. The bus is a little less than a mile from us and goes downtown and other areas.
Other Things to Note
We have wi-fi, but not cable TV. We watch DVD's or hulu from our computer. Bring your own tablet or computer and log into our network.
We have a washer and dryer downstairs in a separate area from your apartment. But there might be a time I'd like to ask you if I can do a load of laundry. If you're not comfortable with that, it's perfectly fine. Communication is key!
• Be considerate and kind.
• We welcome your well-behaved dog if it doesn't bark while you are away, and is house broken for sure. We don't have a fenced yard, but there is a yard to bring them outside, and clean up after them. They need to be on flea meds as we don't want an infestation for the next visitors.
• We have two cats, they don't go downstairs.
• No smoking.
• Check-in after 3
• Check-out 11.
• Ask us, if there aren't guests in front or behind you, we can be flexible on those times.
Your space. Very light and cheerful, full sun from the French door and the bay window.
We totally loved staying with Sue and Tom! It was our first Airbnb experience and they set a high standard. The neighborhood is in a quiet location with a quick car ride to downtown Asheville and also close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The accommodations were uniquely furnished and the new private bathroom was a big plus. The bed was very comfortable and we got a great night's sleep. This was a great place and very spacious with a separate sitting area with a fireplace.
Sue and Tom were great hosts and made sure we had everything we needed.
This was the perfect place for a weekend getaway!
Staying at Sue's place was a great experience! Although we were only a short drive from the city, it felt as though we were really up in the mountains. The apartment was lovely and clean, and very private. Sue and her husband were kind enough to welcome us to stay on mother's day weekend (I believe her birthday as well), and we had a great time!
We had a great weekend staying here. It's a great space with a fridge (which is handy for beer storage!) and French doors that open to the yard. Heads up, the sunlight does tend to stream in bright and early. Once the downstairs bathroom is done it will be fantastic! It's about a 10-12$ uber ride to downtown or a short jaunt in the car. Keyless entry makes access convenient. We'd definitely stay again!
Our stay with Tom and Susan was comfortable and inviting. Our hosts were easy to become friends with. Their home rests on the side of a hill overlooking a very nice golf course. Our suite was immaculate as was the bathroom upstairs.
Tom gave us a sample of their homemade pizza kit. We are preparing it as I write this note. I'll wait until we finish our meal to complete a critique of their kit. I'm sure it will be delicious!!
Tonya and I enjoyed our stay in Asheville, and having excellent housing made our stay totally enjoyable. Thanks to the both of you!
Our pizza is finished and consumed. DELICIOUS! We topped it with chicken, artichokes, and bacon. Just a suggestion: a kit on the pillow the last night of your guests stay, and build your market nation wide.
Happy hosting! Jonathan and Tonya, Denton, Texas
My husband and I had a wonderful time in Asheville! Sue and Tom were wonderful hosts, and we loved staying in their home. We made a fire in the fireplace every night, slept wonderfully on the comfortable bed, and ate REALLY good food at some of the amazing restaurants they recommended. They are in the process of building a bathroom and kitchenette in the basement apartment where we stayed and that will make the space positively perfect!
Staying in someone's home in a cute neighborhood offered so much more than any hotel could. If we are ever back in Asheville we will absolutely be staying in the same place, and we will recommend it to everyone we hear is going there!
We truly enjoyed the spacious downstairs room in Susan and Tom's house. Both close to downtown and easy access to Blue Ridge Parkway made it a wonderful starting place to enjoy Asheville. We loved the wood burning fireplace and layout of the space.
Susan provided a wonderful tour guide with great recommendations around town. Susan and Tom were friendly helpful hosts and would love to stay there again.
Our stay was absolutely perfect. Susan was a very friendly and helpful host. Their home is in a beautiful location, we loved the artistic style, and it was minutes from downtown. The suite space was more than enough, very comfortable and has a private entrance. They had the fireplace ready to be lit and theirs even a futon if traveling with other guests. Susan and her husband are working on adding a bathroom and kitchenette area in the suite but there is already a fridge/freezer and coffee maker along with a table and chairs with a great view through the bay window. They allowed us to bring our gentle lab and were very welcoming to him. We would love to stay here again.
