Description

The space

Our mid-century-modern home is located in the quiet neighborhood of North Asheville, just 2.5 miles from downtown Asheville, and less than a mile from the Asheville Pizza and Brew, one of our oldest craft breweries. Enjoy a movie while having the best pizza in A'ville, and great draft beer! Or for a step up from pizza, there's dining at Ave. M with outdoor seating and a great brunch. Or head another 1.5 miles south to our eclectic downtown with shops, entertainment, and the best restaurant and bar selection rivaling any city in the country. All just 5 minutes from our home! Biltmore Estate, a popular destination, is an easy 5 more miles south.
And, of course, more breweries than we can count.

Your full-sun basement apartment is a spacious 600 sq. ft. large and made for lounging and comfort. Enjoy the living room area in front of the fireplace or TV, or the dining table in front of the bay windows. Our wi-fi is available for your internet access.

You have a private bath with shower. The kitchenette has a microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, and a cast iron farm sink. Bring your cereal and milk, we supply the dishes! The refrigerator and washer/dryer are right past the bathroom. We're only a mile from the grocery store to stock up on snacks and easy meals.

There is a TV with a Roku TV for streaming and wifi for your computer.

Guest access

Park in the driveway and head around the back yard to your private entrance, french doors. Just go across the path at the deck.

Interaction with guests

We are also Air BnB travelers and appreciate the advantage of asking hosts the inside scoop of their town. Ask us where to go eat, hike, bike, or shop and we're happy to offer suggestions because we love our town!

The neighborhood

North Asheville is an easy drive to so many places. 10 minutes north of the Biltmore, were a straight drive there, no need to get on the interstate. We're 1 mile from the Grove Park Inn, another favorite spot to visit, built around the same time as the Biltmore. An interesting and fun place to visit, built from boulders, in the side of a mountain with views, restaurants and shops, plus it's free to visit.

Getting around

We're 2.5 miles off of 240 the main hub around Asheville. It's only a $7 Uber ride from downtown if you want to park here and leave your vehicle behind. We also live on the infamous Elk Mountain Scenic Highway ride that goes straight up to the Blueridge Parkway (5 miles up) and around to Town Mountain Road, which comes back to Downtown. Just ask us for directions. This is a beautiful and scenic ride by car or bike. The bus is a little less than a mile from us and goes downtown and other areas.

Other things to note

We have a washer and dryer downstairs in a separate area from your apartment. But there might be a time I'd like to ask you if I can do a load of laundry. If you're not comfortable with that, it's perfectly fine. Communication is key!

Had a great time visiting Asheville and staying here! The house is in a quiet neighborhood but downtown is a quick car ride away (<10 minutes). The apartment is cozy and well furnished and had everything we wanted. Check in was super simple and the instructions were very clear. It was our first time visiting the city and Susan provided an awesome and thorough guide of things to do around town that was very helpful!

Great place! Was able to bring my bulldogs, which was a great bonus! Very charming place. It was also very clean and comfortable. I stayed for 2 weeks. Hosts are lovely, too. ❤

Sue and Tom are amazing hosts who are extremely communicative and welcoming! Their place is our home away from home in Asheville! After staying with them five times, we will only stay there (if available) when back in Asheville. The basement is equipped with everything you may need during your stay. It is only a short ride to downtown Asheville and everything the city has to offer. Thank you Sue and Tom for opening your home to us and our pups! We love staying here!!!

What a cozy little retreat! Very close to anything and everything in Asheville. While not in walking distance, it's a very cheap and easy Lyft ride to downtown, W. AVL, etc. we spent 4 days here and had a great time. The only thing I would say is that you can definitely hear even a mouse tiptoe upstairs, so if you're looking for ultra privacy, this might not be your jam. But the owners are SO wonderful and fun to chat with, and they are happy to help with anything you need. Would definitely stay here again!

Susan is the absolute perfect host! Her tips for things in the area are extensive and wonderful, all with her personal comments which proved true in every case. She also bent over backwards to help us get some important documents printed from her home. Icing on the cake is that the little apartment in her basement is adorable, clean, cozy, stocked with wood for the fireplace, and a short drive to EVERYTHING! We really looked forward to "coming home" at the end of each day to relax by the fire. And she welcomed our dog without any fee. You are in perfect hands with Susan and will enjoy everything abouther place and all it offers. We will definitely be back and wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Response from Susan:
I'm so glad you did the Eating Asheville! And that you had a great weekend. You missed a bit of snow by a day, woke up to white today. Good luck with your new venture!
