The location and people who live in the place were very nice. The photos were little different compared with real environment though.

Alan was a great communicator and very helpful when I needed to arrive later than expected. He also was very available when I had late night questions about getting on the right subway home. The four story brown stone is a labor of love in progress--several rooms are rented out, or in the process of being renovated to rent out, while others are occupied by collection of friends building an intentional community. Since the floor I stayed on was mostly transient AirBnBers, I did not get a chance to interact much with the intentional community but it still felt like being a part of something larger than myself. The room I was in is usually occupied by a 4 year old, and as such, was an unexpected bonus for my two children, aged 10 and 5, who loved the climbing wall, lofted bunks, and ample Legos and other toys. I expected a lack of perfect cleanliness based on the reviews, but the bedding and towels were fresh, and while the place was a little dusty, there were no odors or evidence of mold. One thing I did not expect was the roaming cats, but each door in the house had a cut out flap at the bottom which could be retracted or laid flat to admit cats only by choice. The space is a unique one, and not for everyone, but we will definitely be requesting to stay again in the future!

Alan seemed like a polite guy and did provide us with essentials after we asked but he definitely needs to make the place more listing appropriate (cleanliness-wise) and make sure the place is ready before guests' arrival and he definitely needs to let guests know about parking and garbage pick up days/time.

Alan was very thorough and hospitable! Very responsive and accommodating. The house was beautiful and it was like a home away from home.

Alan was a great host; conveniently located near key trains and buses to the city.. Not to mention the shuttle.. I was even invited up to a gather of the guests that were there; its almost like home away from home.

Generally it was okay. When we arrived, he was not there but he let me know passwords and where the room is in advance so it doesn't matter. The room was kind of different from the pictures on airbnb but it was good enough so we were satisfied about our room. It has really good air conditioner, which we used it very efficiently (the room doesn't have any window but it was ok because of that). I just talked with him very shortly but he was very nice and kind. I heard there are 2 cats but actually it was 6 cats even though I hadn't seen the other cats except 2. They were very friendly so if you like cats it would be perfect for you. However, the kitchen needs more furnitures for cooking like more dishes and more pots, and it might not be clean enough. Also, you should notice that it was just not for you and your host. It was like a hostel so if you expect just normal airbnb house, it might not be for you. Location was perfect. It has 2 subway stations within 10 minutes each, and literally everything is walkable such as grocery store, post office, and coin laundry. Also it was quite safe. If you need a place, I think it's reasonable choice.
