About this listing
Rustic cabin, built in 1901, now being lovingly nuzzled back to beauty. Spacious and cozy, woodsy and bright, two bedrooms and two lofts and two big porches overlooking the Russian River Valley. A five-minute walk from the river, a five-minute drive from a bunch of wineries, and twenty-five minutes from the unbelievable Sonoma coast.
No internet. No TV. No phone. Yes hummingbirds and the occasional deer. Amenities include plenty of good books, a not-so-good record player, a harmonica, a propane grill on the deck, and a wood-burning stove with plenty of firewood.
Other Things to Note
-For weekends, there's generally a two-night minimum.
-The sleeping spots are: a queen-sized bed in the master bedroom; a two-person sleeping loft at the top of a ladder; a twin mattress that can be on the floor of the study; and plenty of deck space for sleeping under the stars.
-Disclaimer: The place is a hundred years old and the renovation is still a work-in-progress, so there are still some quirks and rough edges: the kitchen table wobbles, the refrigerator is a mini-fridge, the half-bathroom door doesn't latch, etc. If things like that sound like "rustic charm," this house is for you; if they sound like offensive hazards, probably not.
If for some reason you move any furniture, please move it back before you leave.
Please wash any dishes, pans, etc.
Eli's home was just lovely, a perfect place to stay for a long weekend in wine country. We were very comfortable and found plenty to do in the area. Eli was also superbly responsive, which made the trip easy and fun. And Forestville, what a gem!
this is one of the nicest places I've stayed, a dream cabin surrounded by green forest. Everything is so cosy and tasteful inside you don't want to leave! Gorgeous. Just remember to buy lots of groceries from a bigger store on the way - the little shop two minutes down the road is expensive and doesn't have too much (yummy cookies though). Wish we could've stayed more - and Eli is the perfect airbnb'er.
Came here over 3 years ago and have been wanting to come back ever since. The place is magical and feels completely secluded, with ideal views out every window. The no internet and no tv is such a welcome change and really makes this place more of a vacation/escape. Its like staying at your dream home away from the city.
The cabin was cozy and charming, comfortable, and easy to find. We would definitely stay there again. We spent the weekend playing old records (and are now convinced we need a record player of our own), reading our books on the deck outside, and cooking and eating. We didn't make it to the river because we were there on Fourth of July weekend and the homeowners association had closed the nearby beach for a private party. We could've kept walking to the public beach and it would not have been much trouble, we just elected to return to the fabulous cabin and continue eating, relaxing, reading, and record playing instead. Eli was a fantastic host. Super communicative and helpful, responding immediately to questions. We would definitely stay here again.
One day's stay in Eli's mountain side home is enough to bring you back...after 3 days, I felt uncomfortable about leaving. There is everything you need in every room. There are little nooks all over to discover, an extensive library for the eclectic sort, and a beautiful, childlike vibe. We communicated via text, email, and by phone- always warm with a bit humor. The place is tres cool, but not glammed up in the least. It was perfect for me. Barking distance of the Russian River!
Eli was very responsive and friendly throughout our communications prior to arrival. The house was rustic and cozy, as described, with quirky and fun details throughout the house. We loved the reading nook- everyone in our family took advantage of it. The beds were comfortable and we appreciated all of the natural light. We found ourselves in a great location to visit the beaches, downtown, the redwoods and a winery.
We had a great time at Eli's peaceful and relaxing house. Loved the views, books, games, and record player! We were close to the river and hikes in the redwoods. We had everything we needed for a lovely family vacation away from the city.
