Description

The space

Rustic cabin, built in 1901, now being lovingly nuzzled back to beauty. Spacious and cozy, woodsy and bright, with two big porches overlooking the Russian River Valley. A five-minute walk from the river, a five-minute drive from a bunch of wineries, and twenty-five minutes from the unbelievable Sonoma coast.

Guest access

No internet. No TV. No phone. Yes hummingbirds and the occasional deer. Amenities include plenty of good books, a not-so-good record player, a harmonica, a grill on the deck, and a wood-burning stove with plenty of firewood.

Other things to note

-The sleeping spots are: a full-size bed in the master bedroom; a full-size futon mattress in the loft at the top of a ladder; a twin mattress that can be on the floor of the study; and plenty of deck space for sleeping under the stars.

-Disclaimer: The place is a hundred years old and the renovation is still a work-in-progress, so there are still some quirks and rough edges: the kitchen table wobbles, the refrigerator is a mini-fridge, the half-bathroom door doesn't latch, etc. If things like that sound like "rustic charm," this house is for you; if they sound like offensive hazards, probably not.

Eli's place was a wonderful, secluded retreat for my sisters, mother and myself. The home was rustic and cozy. We had a great time!

Eli was a great host in regards to timely and clear communication of how to get in and get out! This place is great if you are looking to have a remote getaway (not much cell phone service and a little off the beaten path). I will not knock him for these things, as it's stated clearly in the description, but let you're spouse know that this is the plan before booking. Thank you Eli!

Eli's home is wonderful, above and beyond what the pictures convey. The location is secluded enough to feel private but not so removed that traveling to any number of the nearby towns is difficult. I went to Healdsburg, Guerneville, and Jenner during my stay. The home itself is beyond lovely, with so many personal touches that it feels like home immediately. The kitchen is well stocked, so you're set to cook up something tasty and sit out on the deck to enjoy the view. There's a little market walking distance that was great for morning coffee and forgotten ingredients. I loved it here! Can't wait to come back.
