  • Vicki's little guest cottage in the gentle swells of Virginia's spring landscape by the babble of the South Anna River couldn't have been more pin-perfect a stay for me. The house is immaculate, fully appointed, and decorated with Vicki's artworks in quilting. Beautiful. We enjoyed a morning chat in the sun and Vicki shared her extensive fabric arts with me- an unexpected inspirational treat!

  • Thanks, Chris and Vicki! It was so nice to go in your Guest House again!

  • My wife and I were headed to Richmond for a conference and lucky enough to leave the kids with Grandma for a couple days. We really enjoyed having this wonderful little spot to get away from it all. Vicki and Chris are very kind and gracious hosts and the cabin is very meticulously kept. We especially appreciate that they don't use any strong scents in the cabin, as my wife tends to get migraines from strong odors (even pleasant ones). Our many thanks to them for such a pleasant and relaxing stay. We hope to be back again sometime!

  • Our stay in Vicki's place has been magical. The house was clean, neat and spacious for us to stay (5 people). As far as the house is concerned, it is perfect. But for me, the way Vicki greet us and spent some time welcoming and saying goodbye is more than anything you'd expect. Simple things you hardly find in people nowadays. Thanks Vicki!

  • "Awesome" would not be enough to sum up our experience staying with Vicki in her guest house. It was really spacious and super fancy with two floors: one HUGE master bedroom and four beds upstair. The house is stocked with goodies like boardgames, books, snacks and a really nice kitchen area. Oh and the bathroom was amazing too. Totally recommend staying here.

  • I took my parents on a two week road trip starting in NYC, through VA, NC, SC, GA all the way to Key West, then back up through the Smoky Mountains. We stayed at quite a few properties along the way, and Vicki's guest house was among my parents' favorite!

Vicki was able to provide same day availability, sent us detailed (and amazing) directions, and left the light on for our really late arrival (past midnight).

The guest house was incredibly cute, comfortable, and so very clean. The guest house itself is spacious, clean and comfortable. Vicki has amazing taste in decorating the inside of the guest house, and we spent an hour exploring and ooh-ing and aah-ing over the thoughtful details such as the wall hangings, gorgeous quilts, and the oh-so-adorable loft with 4 single beds.

The kitchen was very well stocked and I had no problems whipping up an amazing brunch for us the following morning, right after we took a walk around the property to explore the lake behind the house, and the gurgling brook/river right behind the main house. Despite the time of the year and the trees mostly leaf-less, it was still an extremely serene and beautiful setting and helped us start our road trip on a very relaxed and stressfree note.

We only stayed one night and wished we could stay a full week. I really hope to be back in the summer - my friends live in DC (I am in NYC), so I'm hoping we can arrange for a small group trek out to the Welsh's guest house to destress and recharge!

  • We had a great stay. The house is in a beautiful area and it's in very good condition. The location was also convenient; it's far enough out of the city to be quiet, but just a short drive to downtown Richmond and Ashland. We enjoyed talking to Vicki and her husband and would be happy to stay here again.

  • This lovely guesthouse is a real gem and worth trying just for the lovely taste of the tap water, which brings delicious water up from a deep well, ice cold and sweeter than any bottled water you've ever tasted.

There is a master bedroom and bath downstairs and a generous upstairs which would be great fun for children, (or extra guests of any kind) and is equipped with games for them, and books for the adults. Vicki is a lovely hostess and superb conversationalist, while also giving a lovely amount of privacy and space to the guest. I'd definitely stay here again.

  • We cannot recommend this airbnb enough. The setting is idyllic and the accommodation is better than any hotel. Vicki and Chris are really friendly but leave you alone to enjoy your time in their great guest house.
