You will start to relax as soon as you drive down the driveway. You might see deer grazing outside your bedroom window in the morning and evening and there are lots of birds to watch. A morning walk by the pond is a great way to start your day.
Enjoy a peaceful night with privacy in a very safe neighborhood whether you are visiting the area or just passing through. This cute little guest house is next to but separate from the main house. You have your own entrance, kitchenette, full bath, large bedroom with a queen size bed, walk in closet and an upstairs loft with 4 twin beds all covered with hand made quilts. The rate is based on the number people (including children) staying and ranges from $70 (2 people) - $110 (family of 6) per night.
We have free Wi-Fi (satellite service for surfing but not streaming). We have a TV for playing movies from our classic DVD collection. Cell phone service can be spotty here (especially if you are not on Verizon) but we can provide you with a house phone for US calls (no international calls).
The kitchen has a refrigerator, small stove, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker with cooking utensils and pots and pans.
We provide clean linens, tea and coffee. We can stock the kitchen with your needs for an extra charge that we can discuss before your arrival. Interaction with Guests
We are here if you need us but you can also be as alone and private as you wish.
You will be able to relax in a very quiet neighborhood of 10 acre lots. There's one road through the neighborhood and it's a nice walk to a beautiful lake.
It's as very rural area so you will need a car to get around.
Other Things to Note
There is no cable TV service but there is a TV to play DVDs and we have a collection of DVDs for your entertainment.
The internet is wireless and there is no password. As a rural location we are on satellite so we cannot allow downloading or streaming video or music. It's great for surfing, shopping and figuring out which restaurant to try next.
While you are staying there it's your home. All we ask is that you not smoke and avoid using lots of fragrance products like scented candles, febreeze and air fresheners.
We had a great experience staying in Vicki's guest cottage as our first time at an airbnb place. The place was just as described, a quiet, pleasant country spot. We appreciated Vicki's attention showing us the bird house activity and her fantastic studio as well as her works in progress. Directions to nearby stores and restaurants were easy to follow.
A lovely spot! There is a view of the pond from the kitchen and bathroom windows. In the morning, there was a deer grazing in the field on the hill.
The place is spotless and homey. Handmade quilts cover each bed and the walls.
Nearby Ashland is a sweet little town with a lot happening.
We were made to feel comfortable even before we arrived. We called to let them know we would be arriving late (and on Easter evening!) and they were very gracious and easy going about it. We were greeted upon our arrival and shown around the house. What a lovely place! The pictures really don't do it justice. Set in a beautiful location, only 20 minutes from downtown Richmond. The sitting area and kitchen are small but adequate; the master bedroom and loft are very roomy. The handmade (by Vicki) quilts throughout are so beautiful and comfortable. No t.v. and the internet is pretty slow, but who really needs that when vacationing? There are plenty of movies and books available if you need a diversion. I will definitely stay here again and recommend it to family.
We have lost count of the number of times we have enjoyed Vicki's hospitality. The cottage is always perfectly equipped and spotlessly clean. The location is a great base for visiting and exploring the Richmond area. It is truly a five start property with a great host!
From the moment we pulled up to our adorable little guest home, I felt at peace. As we were pulling up, Vicki was already coming out to greet us and show us our little home away from home; and home it was! From the wonderful introduction, to the beautiful interior decorating, down to the smaller things (having a nice collection of teas and coffee for us, the little bowl of chocolates or the book and movie collection), to the incredibly thoughtful small gift of having a hand-made fabric postcard, we were amazed at the thought and kindness our host had put into every detail to make our stay as wonderful as it could be. I am very glad we picked here to stay, and we plan on coming back as often as we have availability to relax. Vicki was the perfect hostess, and there is nothing that was lacking or that she could have done to make us feel more at home. I felt so at home that I was sad to leave at the end of our trip, and am excited to return.
The house was wonderful!! Vicki was very hospitable!! The sound of nature at night was amazing we just sat and listened all night. In the am we went out to the pond in the back and tried to skip rocks. This little home takes your spirit to a place of calmness which was what we both needed. The best birthday ever here. We will come back again for sure!! Thank you Vicki!!
Another wonderful stay with Vicki and chris. It's such an idyllic peaceful setting that you never want to leave.
Chris and Vicki are a retired military officer and insurance professional, respectively. We live on 10 quiet acres in rural Virginia. Vicki is a full time fabric dyer and quilter and Chris loves hunting and fishing.
