Enjoy a peaceful night with privacy in a very safe neighborhood whether you are visiting the area or just passing through. This cute little guest house is next to but separate from the main house. You have your own entrance, kitchenette, full bath, large bedroom with a queen size bed, walk in closet and an upstairs loft with 4 twin beds all covered with hand made quilts. The rate is based on the number people (including children) staying and ranges from $60 (2 people) - $100 (family of 6) per night.
There’s no TV, but you have free wi-fi internet access. Cell phone service can be spotty here (especially if you are not on Verizon) but we can provide you with a house phone for US calls (no international calls).
The kitchen has a small refrigerator, small stove, microwave, toaster oven and coffee maker. It's perfect for simple breakfast and lunch but not great for big meals.
We provide clean linens, tea and coffee. We can stock the kitchen with your needs for an extra charge that we can discuss before your arrival. Grocery stores are nearby (5 – 6 miles) if you want to bring your own supplies. We do not use any fragranced products in cleaning the house or the linens. People with fragrance allergies should be comfortable here.
The only rules are no smoking and no pets.

We had a great stay. The house is in a beautiful area and it's in very good condition. The location was also convenient; it's far enough out of the city to be quiet, but just a short drive to downtown Richmond and Ashland. We enjoyed talking to Vicki and her husband and would be happy to stay here again.
This lovely guesthouse is a real gem and worth trying just for the lovely taste of the tap water, which brings delicious water up from a deep well, ice cold and sweeter than any bottled water you've ever tasted.
There is a master bedroom and bath downstairs and a generous upstairs which would be great fun for children, (or extra guests of any kind) and is equipped with games for them, and books for the adults. Vicki is a lovely hostess and superb conversationalist, while also giving a lovely amount of privacy and space to the guest. I'd definitely stay here again.
We loved to stay on Cris and Vicki's guest house! It's a nice place, and the house is really pretty! The beds, the bathrooms, quiet surroundings and interior design makes this house a beautiful stay! Vicki is a amazing person, and welcomed us amazingly! I received a little handmade gift to remember how grateful was our passage. We intend to come there again!
The Guesthouse was the perfect location for the personal retreat we needed. Vicki was a great host and provided everything needed for an enjoyable experience.
I am staying at the guest house on an intermittent basis as I am relocating to the Richmond area. It is a quiet, clean, wonderful place to stay. It is beautifully furnished and well equipped for cooking. The bed is very comfortable and warm. I have been working long hours, so I haven't had a chance to enjoy the yard, pond,or neighborhood, but perhaps as the daylight hours grow longer, I'll get that chance. There is no TV, so I've been able to catch up on reading (they even have books available if you forgot your own), although I miss Sportscenter! There is no AT&T cell service at the house, although it kicks in within 1/10th of a mile from the house. I recommend the guest house highly for a quiet warm place to stay.
After a stressful drive in the rain and darkness we were warmly welcomed by Vicki and Chris. We woke to snow falling and beautiful surroundings. Vicki and Chris were helpful and friendly at all times, accommodation lovely.
Wonderful space - great location! Highly recommend!
If your willing to leave a group of multinational companies behind you, the definition of lodging will take on a new meaning by morning.
A guest house most accommodating.
Our stay at the Welch's guest home was absolutely dreamy. It truly felt like a home away from home. We have 3 small children and the guest house was perfect for our needs (which included business, fun, rest and homeschooling!) There were little touches (handmade and dyed fabrics/quilts, books for children and adults, heavenly herbal teas, etc.) that made our stay just feel extra special. They even had games, toys, puzzles and art supplies in a closet that kept my children entertained for hours. It would take a novel for me to properly express how perfect the facilities, host and our visit felt. Some of our plans were foiled by inclement weather but none of us were sad to spend a little more time than we anticipated at the guest house. In fact, we were quite content to be rained and "iced" inside. When we didn't feel safe traveling in the weather, our hosts were understanding and graciously extended our stay an extra night. If you're going to be staying in the Richmond area for ANY reason, I would highly recommend Chris and Vicki's guest house... it cannot be beat.
We were so lucky to have Vicki as our host during our trip to Virginia! Her guest house is beautiful and is decorated with lovely quilts made by her and her mother---and we were pleasantly surprised by all the little treats: coffee, candy, tea, and a lovely handmade card welcoming us! We were there for a family wedding, and it was so nice to have a comfortable little getaway to come and go from wedding festivities. Vicki was also very accommodating when we asked if my partner's sister could stay with us a night. Overall a wonderful experience, I highly recommend staying with Vicki if you are visiting VA. Also she is very helpful knowing the ins and outs of Air B&B if you want to get started yourself!
