The space

Come to this beautiful place in San Miguel de Allende. 10 minutes from downtown. Very quiet subdivision. Bright room with balcony overlooking the street. Private bathroom, hot water. Internet, laundry and kitchen to prepare your food.

The house has two bedrooms. One is for the guests. I usually am at home, I like to look my little garden and my pets.

Availability to use the laundry and kitchen. Internet and cable TV.

Guest access

Bus stop one block. Super convenient location. The center is just 10 minutes by bus. Shopping center at 5 min.

Interaction with guests

I love to show the architectural spaces and the great cultural offer this small town offers. We can also visit handicraft markets and in general, I like being a good hostess and tour guide. There are often exhibitions and a good number of exhibits presented here throughout the year.

Other things to note

I teach Spanish to foreigners, which allows me to have a very close interaction with my guests and teach them some of our colloquial language.

Bertha is a wonderful host and pleasant to talk to. She is very knowledgeable about the area and helped me have a very comfortable stay while visiting San Miguel de Allende. The house is very clean and quiet and in a safe neighborhood. Her dog Paloma is very calm and sweet. I highly recommend this place and would return any time I'm back in town.

Bertha is very friendly, warm, and helpful. I felt very relaxed and at home at her place. Very quiet , easy to get buses to where you want to go. Clean and modern, would certainly stay again. Paloma her dog is really sweet. Bonus Bertha is a Spanish teacher, so if you are looking to improve your Spanish, she is very helpful.

Bertha was really a great host, had everything ready for my visit and was helpful in my planning tourist activities. The bed was so comfortable, one of the best beds I'd slept on for a long time! While the house was maybe 1.5 kilometers from the city center, there's a bus to catch from the neighborhood right into town.

Bertha picked me up from the bus station which is a 5-10 minute drive to her house. The location of her house is about a 15-20 min walk to the center of San Miguel de Allende. If you don't want to walk there is the yellow bus that stops directly down the block from Bertha's house. There is also a Oxxo convenience store 5 min walking from Bertha's. Bertha is very informative on San Miguel de Allende and its sights.

Bertha was a very lovely host. She and her home are both warm and inviting. I always felt comfortable and welcome. Paloma, her dog, might be one of the sweetest animals you will have the pleasure of meeting. Her home is with walking distance of SMA center (25 min) and close to a couple convenient shops. The room was perfect... The bed was also very comfortable! Muchas gracias por todo, Bertha!

Bertha made me feel so welcome when I arrived with 5 simple words: "Welcome, this is your house". I felt that sentiment each day. She is a generous and thoughtful host. Her home is a small and tidy place in a quiet neighborhood. Nice walking all around and easy bus access to the busy historic center of San Miguel. I left after several days enchanted by San Miguel and feeling like I had new friends in Bertha and her extra sweet doggie, Paloma. I'll be back.

This was my first experience with airbnb, and even at this point I'm not sure if I'm to expect only a room or bed to sleep on, or something more; that is, to be treated as a guest in one's home. I'll write this review from the perspective of the former. Bertha has a bedroom and private bath available, although, private bath is a misnomer. Its Bertha's bathroom that she uses daily, but for guests she uses the bathroom downstairs. Unfortunately, she doesn't move any of her stuff out of the bathroom, which leaves no room for your stuff. Same in the bedroom, which she uses for storage and chachkis, leaving no shelves or storage. For 4 nights I lived out of my suitcase. The bedsheets are threadbare with plenty of pills (bobbles or clumps of fiber). They need to be replaced. I also discovered hairs on the sheet, which I always check on a "new" bed. Having done enough washes in my lifetime, I understand that hairs can "stick" even through a wash. I just hope that's the case here. My last day, I left the house about 5:30 PM to head downtown. Unfortunately, Bertha was walking her dog Paloma at the time. When I returned about 10:00, I discovered I was locked out. After banging on the door, she finally came down, explaining she thought I was in my room asleep. No apology forthcoming. The washer-dryer is very helpful, and Paloma is a delight for dog lovers. I got 2 cups of coffee in 4 days, no food. I asked Bertha for a ride to the bus station, which she provided. She remained in her car, while I got my luggage and said good-bye. A very cold parting indeed.

Response from Bertha:
