I am both a host and a traveler. As a visitor I am quiet yet friendly, enjoying yoga and seclusion. I am a mother of two older teenagers and professionally a scientist. I enjoy exploring new places, sunshine, the ocean, long walks, and being in nature. As a host I enjoy immensely sharing my home and my library with my many international guests. Being so close to the University, most of my guests are from other countries coming to here to start a post doctoral fellowship or to teach or begin graduate school. Maggie's Place is an international guest house for visiting and transitioning scholars and we welcome everyone.. I love to care for people, and am very health oriented. When i travel I like to cook my own meals, so I provide a full kitchen and hope to create an environment welcoming and homey to all. I prefer a natural environment, with all cotton and natural fiber bedding, avoid use of chemicals in cleaning or laundry. Often when we have guests that are enjoying each others company we will have a shared meal together sharing cuisines from different cultures. My father served as registrar of the University of Massachusetts in the 60's and 70's. He saved all the stamps from the international applications coming from students applying from abroad for admission to the University in 1959 and 1960. I have in my home a framed stamp collection of those stamps. I am grateful to be able to receive so many wonderful guests from around the world into my home.
