12 trains to Manhattan in 10 min. JFK easy access. One block from Barclays, BAM, Atlantic shopping, outlets, Court/Smith streets. Near Brooklyn Bridge, Times Square, Rockefeller, Empire State, Statue of Liberty, Central Park.
One bedroom (part of a 3 Bedrm/2BathRm apartment) across the Street from BAM, Barclays Ctr, on Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn's business district! Clean, comfy and creative is how I would describe my space. The apartment is fully furnished, complete with an upright piano. Lots of original artwork on the walls and film books. It's a 3-flight walk-up, but the space is so comfortable it makes it all worth it! Light kitchen use available, but unfortunately no animals or smoking allowed.
The apartment is shared with my boyfriend and I, and we're both fun-loving, people-loving, 1st generation New Yorkers who have a HUGE passion for the culture and beauty that makes up this great city, and learning about other people from around the world. Looking for someone clean and chill who can respect our space.
Access to the one bedroom, bathroom (shared with other guests if they are there), light kitchen use, living and dining room. Complimentary coffee, tea, etc available for guests.
Interaction with guests
The level of interaction depends on what projects we're working on, but generally we love interacting with guests!
Other things to note
As always, be kind and respectful of our space as this is our home. It is also home to our gracious neighbors downstairs so we ask our guests to keep them in mind when entering and leaving the building, or hanging out in the house in regards to loud music, etc. Also, it's a 3-flight walk-up, but the space is so comfortable it makes it all worth it!
-LEAVE BAD VIBES & SHOES OUTSIDE!
Welcome! We love our space and do our best to create a fun, relaxing setting for all who come here, so we ask all our guests to leave any negative vibes (and shoes carrying negative NYC germs!) at the door! We've provided a bench/shoe rack for storing your shoes outside the door!
-NEIGHBORS & OTHER GUESTS
There are only two apartments in the building, we live on the top floor. You will be sharing our apartment with us along with any other guests that we may have at the time. You will be sharing a bathroom with any guests that we may have booked.
Our building now has an electronic keyless tag to get into the building which costs $50 (and a world of pain) to replace, so please be careful not to lose it while you're here.
Please be conscious of turning off the lights in the bedroom and bathroom before leaving the rooms. Additionally, kindly turn the AC off when you leave the house for the day to help conserve energy.
Next to 12 MTA trains, the LIRR and both the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges, you can get anywhere in the city within minutes. There is a pocket-sized Subway map in your room for your convenience. The following trains are accessible downstairs and around the corner from our front door: 2,3,4,5,B,D,N,R,Q,LIRR, Available 3 blocks away on Bond and Schermerhorn Streets are the A,C,G trains. There is also a cab service around the corner that is 24 hour, or you could hail a cab downstairs just as easily. If you decide to drive, the best places to park are anywhere along Pacific Street between Flatbush and 3rd Avenue, or any streets after Bergen street between 5th and 3rd avenues. Mind the street signs in New York because parking violations are a constant burden.
Lots of options. Some really great restaurants along Atlantic, Flatbush, 5th and 4th Avenues, as well as Lafayette and Fulton Streets. We've indicated some of our favorites in the Airbnb guidebook, and we also have menus in the kitchen in the drawer closest to the fridge.
You are welcomed to use utensils in the kitchen, and eat at the dining table, so long as you clean up after yourself. Please seal and/or contain any food in the bedrooms. We've never had a rodent or roach problem and we'd like to keep it that way!
-ALCOHOL, SMOKE, PETS, GUESTS, ETC.
We're are a smoke-free and casual drinkers of alcohol household. Please enjoy yourself and the nightlife that NYC has to offer. However, we frown upon inebriation as it interferes with the tranquility of our home. In worst case scenarios we kindly ask you to not drink in our home and ultimately, we will reserve the right ask you to please leave the premise. We are also pet-free household so kindly don't bring any of the above with you. We absolutely ban any use of drugs in our home. Also, please don't bring any guests to the house.
There will be a trash can in your room for non-perishable waste. Food and perishables should be placed in the kitchen trash can under the sink that's labelled “Trash."

I'm a filmmaker based in New York. I was born in California and raised in Kenya though my family is from Tanzania, so I speak fluent Swahili. I love dancing and spend about 3-4 nights a week practicing different dance styles in the city like salsa, bachata, kizomba and a number of African club dances. I love good food and good laughs, but can't stand a dirty house!
