Welcome to my humble abode! Comfortable and cozy room as part of a 3-bedroom apartment in the heart of Brooklyn's business district, Boerum Hill. Every possible amenity within walking distance, along with 12 trains to get anywhere within minutes!

The Space

One bedroom (part of a 3 bdrm apartment) across the Street from BAM, Barclays Ctr, on Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn's business district! Cute and cozy, with chill roommates. Next to 12 trains, get anywhere in minutes! Safe and secure with great food & shops including Trader Joe's (10 min walk), 24-hour grocery store, movie theaters, 24-hour laundromat, various gyms and yoga/pilates studios, the Hare Krishna Center (awesome vegetarian food!), the best Halal food in Brooklyn downstairs, and much, much more!
The apartment is shared with two chill roommates; one lawyer and one filmmaker (me!) Looking for someone clean and chill who can respect my space. The apartment is fully furnished, complete with an upright piano. Lots of original artwork on the walls and film books. It's a 3-flight walk-up, but the space is so comfortable it makes it all worth it! Full kitchen (fridge, stove and microwave.) Unfortunately no animals allowed.

Guest Access

Access to the one bedroom, bathroom (shared with my male roommate), full kitchen, living and dining room.

Interaction with Guests

It depends on whether I'm working on a film or not, but generally I enjoy interacting with my guests.

Getting around

Getting around doesn't get more convenient anywhere in the city! Next to every train imaginable and several 24-hour cab services as well if you must! Its also a very safe neighborhood to walk around if you want to explore by foot, and lots of bike trails if you want to do that too.

Other Things to Note

It's a 3-flight walk-up, but the space is so comfortable it makes it all worth it!

  • I had a great experience at Ekwa’s place in Brookline, NY. Great location to get around New York city. The apartment was very clean and orderly which made my stay very pleasant. Besides of being a great dancer, Ekwa is very kind and helpful at all times. She was definitely key for me to learn about the city and get the most out of it. This place felt like home and I will definitely recommend it.

  • I stayed at Ekwa's place for three months and had a really good time. The room is big and very comfortable. The subway station is just right around the corner with trains going in pretty much every direction which makes it very convenient to get around. On sunny days I could walk to Manhattan over Brooklyn Bridge in less than an hour.

Although I never met Ekwa in person, she was very accommodating by email. At my arrival, her partner Sacha was waiting for me at the apartment to hand over the keys. I was introduced to the roommates and got every question I had answered, he also showed me around the neighborhood before he left.

About
I'm an East African filmmaker based in New York. I was born in California and raised in Kenya though my family is from Tanzania, so I speak fluent Swahili. I love dancing and spend about 3-4 nights a week practicing different dance styles in the city like salsa, bachata and kizomba. I love good food and good laughs, but can't stand a dirty house!
