If you want a piece of paradise, my home is it! Situated in a picturesque 10th century village on the French Riviera, only 7km from Monaco, 7km from the Italian border and 35km from Nice Airport. You'll feel as though you're living on a film set. I have WiFi at home and English TV. Only downside to this paradise is that the village is not wheelchair friendly because it has loads of steps. I have 2 cats at home, I smoke and eat meat so cat-hating non-smoking vegetarians please abstain! Born in south west London I am a lifelong, loud and proud Chelsea FC supporter. Fellow CFC fans always welcome in my home. KTBFFH!!! I am also an old rock chick, AC/DC are my favourite group. Live, love and laugh is my modus operandi, if it's also yours welcome to my world!
The old village is the heart of Roquebrune Cap Martin, nestling in the mountains above the sea looking down on her domain as lovingly and protectively as a mother does her baby.
A procession has taken place in the old village every 5 August for more than 5 centuries. The procession began in 1467 as a sign of gratitude towards God that the old village defeated the plague. The procession shows various scenes from the Suffering of Christ and both villagers and tourists participate.
The old village church is called Eglise Sainte Marguerite and is named after a Roquebrunoise inhabitant who was made a saint after she saw a vision of the Holy Mary. Shortly after her vision the old village was untouched by the plague while everyone else in neighbouring villages perished and the villagers believed Marguerite’s vision had saved them. The church is beautiful inside and out and has a lovely nurturing and welcoming feel and is well worth a visit of either quiet contemplation or to participate in a mass.
Another spiritual experience is to stand in front of the thousand year old olive tree situated a few hundred metres from Place Capitaine Vincent. It is the oldest living olive tree in the world. The olive tree is truly awe-inspiring and exudes gentle strength and is nature’s proof that "Nothing is so strong as gentleness, and nothing so gentle as real strength." St Francis de Sales.
For all historical buffs who didn’t know this already, the old village’s castle was sold in 1911 to a rich British tourist, Sir William Ingram, who bought it on a whim and wanted to turn it into a Disneyland castle. Thankfully the Roquebrunois inhabitants put up stiff opposition to Sir William’s plans and in 1921 he donated the castle to Roquebrune Cap Martin, still in its original condition.
The vista of red-roofed village houses spread out just below the castle are so picturesque they look like they’ve been made especially for a film set and real people don’t live in them. To the west Monaco’s skyscrapers and super yachts appear imperious and to the east Menton and Italy beckon gently. From the north delta planers, hang gliders and para gliders linger above the old village on their descent from Mount Gros to Golfe Bleu beach due south.

We defintely enjoyed our stay at Nicole´s place. She is really a nice, warm and easy person.
A nice flat with a stunning view from the bedroom.
I stayed for only two nights and wish I could've stayed for longer because Nicole and her home and village were wonderful. Roquebrune has such a facinating history and is ideally located for exploring this beautiful part of the world with excellent transport links if you don't have the use of a car for your stay like me
Nicoles home is quiet, clean and comfortable which is all you need really and she went out of her way to help with directions and advise and preparing a healthy breakfast !
I'd recommend her room with a wonderful view to anyone wanting the personal touch you don't get from bland hotel.
Nicole is a lovely host, offering a great place to stay! It was really a pleasure.
Refreshingly open, honest and fun, Nicole is great host to stay with... Despite being a Chelsea fan! Located in the most picturesque medieval village. The bedroom has a fantastic view of the sea and is very clean. This is a great option for exploring the South of France if you don't wish to stay in a soulless hotel. Nicole offered us loads of tips and we had a few lovely meals on her recommendation. Thanks Nicole
Please see my earlier review about my stay at Nicole's.
Just came back from a one-week stay together with my girlfriend at Nicole's home in Roquebrune. My feedback from this experience couldn't really be more positive: the bedroom (as well as the entire apartment) is lovely, super-clean and yes, the seaview really is one to live for. On top of that, we had the honor to meet a truly wonderful and unique human being: Nicole. She is inspiring, honest, wise, and she has been nice and extremely helpful with us for the whole duration of our stay, may it be for a suggestion about where to eat or what to visit or, more simply, for a lovely chat on her sofa while enjoying a glass of wine.
Nicole is a very nice host, we had a lovely time in Roquebrune cap martin.
She invited us to the “fete du village”with her friends to taste the Pistou soup , it was really nice and we had lots of fun.
The breakfast was delicious with fresh fruits and Nicole gave us lots of great advices to visit the region.
The seaview is fantastic and it was a pleasure to stay with Nicole.
Nicole was a great host, and very helpful in orienting me to the area.
And, the view from the bedroom is to live for!
Nicole's place is located in a medieval village with a rich history and a marvelous view towards Monte Carlo and the bay. You find yourself in an absolutely quiet and picturesque place and at the same time you are only 6 km far from Monaco and the civilization!
Nicole was a perfect host and my husband and I felt really at home. The room was comfortable and the view from the room and from the terrace in front of the house was worth seeing.
Our recommendation is to follow strictly the instructions of Nicole about reaching the place as the house is inside the medieval village where cars are not allowed. The parkings recommended by Nicole are at a small distance and free of charge.
The room was extremely clean and comfortable with a stunning view of the Cote D'Azur (The Blue Coast) from the window. The apartment is located in the beautiful medieval village of Roquebrune, where there is a pub, restaurants and a cafe. It just a short bus journey away (15-20 minutes) from the town of Menton and about 30 minutes from Monaco. It was extremely easy to navigate our way around as the village bus takes you everywhere you need to go, and the bus fare is only 1euro for all journeys!! The beaches also were amazing, especially the one in the town of Menton which is only 15 minutes from the village by bus.
Nicole was an excellent hostess, very helpful and easy to talk to. She made us a great breakfast every morning and showed us where to get the bus and at what time. Thanks to her help, we managed not to get lost once!!
I would highly recommend "Bedroom for a sea view to live for" especially for couples looking to relax, it really is like living in paradise and Nicole could not have been a more gracious host.
