Our home is located in the village of Aymanam, and is a semi secluded, quiet, riverside spot.

This listing is a spacious room, with an attached bathroom & common kitchen, with mosquito nets on all windows and doors.

There are bikes, kayaks available. I can take guests on kayak tours.
There are local eateries around or can arrange food to be delivered home.

I've lived around the world, and love sharing stories and history of this land and of my experiences here and abroad.

The space
Our house is on a 1 acre property, with a river on one side, and has 3 spacey bedroom and bathrooms with fast WIFI access. We (seasonally) farm bananas, jackfruit, coconuts, nutmeg, pineapple, and other fruits and vegetables. The house has mosquito nets and is pest control treated. There is a fully functional kitchen, and can make use of homegrown bananas, , turmeric, coconut grating etc. We also source our milk from our local farmers, which we use for cereal, chai at home.

Where you’ll be

Kottayam, Kerala, India

It is a typical village neighborhood, adjacent to water, places of worship, farms etc. Being river side- birds, squirrels can be seen from the veranda, also flowers, local plants, trees and fruits.

Trip to hidden local toddy shop for fresh toddy and great local foods like tapioca, porotta, curries like chicken, beef, pork etc.

Just about 300 meters away is a family chai/tea shop run by a man named Manasun. You get breakfast like Appam, Dosa, Porotta, Puttu, Kadala curry, Chutney, and great coffee and tea. A usual meal (including tea/coffee) will about RS. 50-70 a person.
Breakfast hours are like 6:30 Am- 10:00 AM.
In the afternoon, they have snacks like plantain fry, vada, bonda, etc. They are usually open 2:30 pm

A bus ride away (2 kms) is an eatery with great chai and plantain fry (made from better quality ingredients). If you want to laze around and order delivery there are few places I would recommend: Wheels, Anand, The Brown Crunch, Lebanese Grill (available on apps like Swiggy & Zomato)

There is a walking trail bang opposite the house by the river, no large trucks or buses etc use the road. Quite a scenic walk.
