This place is just wonderful. I don't have enough good things to say. I've noticed that some others have complained about the mosquitos. We didn't find it to be much of a problem honestly, even with the torrential rains. Just be sensible. Breakfast is extravagant, don't miss it.

Great place! Joana was pretty nice and careful with us. The house has a great spot for hanging out and listen the birds and watch the little monkeys.

Staying at Joana's home was truly a wonderful experience! Her home is beautiful. You really feel like you are in the middle of the Mata Atlantica. My room had a gorgeous view of the garden. It is obvious that Joana enjoys hosting guests in her home. Everything that she does is with such care and detail. My room was cozy and comfortable. All details were considered. The tiny balcony is a lovely space to relax and enjoy a book. The bed was very comfortable and included a mosquito net. She provided adapters, mosquito repellent, a variety of brochures, and a water carafe with fresh water. Mosquitos were a bit of a problem due to the recent rain so make sure to use repellent and the plug-ins that she provides. Breakfast included a variety of delicious fruits such as mango, papaya, pineapple, etc. Homemade yogurt, granola, freshly squeezed juice, coffee, cheese....a very complete and healthy breakfast! The best part was talking with Joana and her sweet mother. She gave me many valuable tips and ideas of how to spend my time in Olinda. She even arranged a private tour to visit the Brennand ceramic factory with one of her friends. In addition, she arranged both a pick up from a small beach town for me and drop off at the airport with one of her friends. If you are going to visit Olinda, I highly recommend that you stay at Joana's home. She will provide you with not only lovely accommodations, but a beautiful perspective on Olinda and Brazilian culture! Thank you!

Everything about this place is amazing. Joana was so sweet and helpful and patient with me, trying to communicate without much Portuguese, helped me find my way around, connected me with a language school nearby, and fed me the very best breakfasts one could hope for. The house is gorgeous, a work of art, open to the garden, and well maintained. It's an easy walk to most places in the heart of Olinda, and I felt very safe and comfortable there. It was home to me for the time I spent there, and I hope to return again!

Joana was a wonderful host. The breakfast was delicious and very big complete with juice, coffee, breads, eggs, cheese and fruit. I arrived a weary backpacker looking for respite, that she provided. Her home and the surrounding grounds in Olinda are beautiful and peaceful. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Her dog is very friendly too!
