We had a great stay here! Carlos picked us up from the airport, the room was good, clean and had all amenities. Carlos is very helpful and let us leave out bags in our room overnight for our trip to Aguas Calientes.
The listing was accurate and and the neighborhood was quaint. it was a nice get-away from the hustle-and-bustle from the main part of Cusco.
Carlos was very accommodating and even helped me purchase some stomach-ache medicine from the local pharmacy.
Carlos picked me up from the airport and once we got back to the guest house, he spent a solid half hour with me going over all of my travel plans and making sure I had everything set up for Machu Picchu. So great! The 3 pieces I was missing (bus to Ollantaytambo, tour guide at MP, taxi from Poroy train station) he immediately arranged for me and I just paid him upfront. I wouldn't recommend the tour guide he used, but both transportation pieces were fabulous and so easy. Breakfast isn't provided, but the WiFi here is great and there is a supermarket less than a block away to buy bottled water and food. The patio upstairs is great to sit and relax! It was really great to have a caring host who helped me with my trip and made me feel better about the trip.
That Carlos is a welcoming host is undeniable. However there are a couple of things that must be know about this property.
Firstly there are communal bathrooms, which are not very clean. Additionally the shower head is "electric" and shocks you if you touch it. It also produces very little water.
We had a very difficult time finding the residence, as well as communicating with Carlos. He provided us with his cell phone number, however when we were lost, our calls would not go through to him.
We had booked the private room imaging it would be the one depicted. Rather it was a small room with one window not the the outside but to the interior court yard. Needless to say, the pictures do accurately reflect the rooms.
Lastly to address the comments of the neighborhood, at night it did feel a tad unsafe. However, upon seeing it in the morning it was clear that it was safe, its merely a city neighborhood filled with people who really live there. That being said, it is quite far from the city center, definitely not walkable (or at least an enjoyable walk).
Carlos was very helpful in giving us advice for things around Cusco. Accommodations were good, although we wished the shower water was a little warmer! We were very grateful that Carlos let us store our bags while we hiked for 4 days to Machu Picchu.
Carlos is a great host. Even though we didn't plan our trip in advance he helped us to buy tickets to Machu Picchu in the evening right before the trip. Also he was very thoughtful and gave us warm blanket in the early morning bus. As a result I think we were the only tourists in that morning bus, who didn't shake because of the cold. The room at his place was clean and big enough to enjoy our stay in Cusco. Thank you for everything Carlos!
Carlos, excelente anfitrião, sempre presente para auxiliar no que for preciso.
