About This Listing
Quiet, cozy house in friendly River District neighborhood close to campus. All within walking distance: U-M Hospital, Beckley Park, Huron River and the Cascades, Kerrytown, Zingerman’s, Farmer’s Market. Resident kitty Mickie and dog Charley.
Think of "country in the city" with all conveniences at your fingertips. I live across from Ann Arbor's oldest cemetery, Fairview, and have a stand a pines to the north and east, yet it's just a 20-minute walk to downtown Ann Arbor. My house is a 1929 Sears & Roebuck kit house and has a lot of charm and warmth.
Guests have access to the living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom. They are also welcome to cook in my kitchen assuming that they bring their own food. In nice weather either the front or back porches are also available. The room downstairs with the queen sized bed is my room and is a private area.
Interaction with Guests
As much as the guest would like. I listen carefully to the guest's wishes. We have often shared a meal or an evening with a solo traveler, but fully respect any individual's desire for privacy and alone time.
It is peaceful, clean, quiet, safe, welcoming and just a five-minute walk to the river!
The local city bus is just two blocks from my house. You can walk to downtown or campus in about 20 minutes or to a local small grocery store in about 15.
Other Things to Note
I have a cat, Mickie, who is never allowed outside. VERY important! I also have a super friendly dog friend, Charley.
No smoking inside the house!!
Be kind and respectful to my animals.
No drugs or drunkeness or destructive behavior.
No other people not registered with Air B&B without asking me first.
Respectful noise level.
Jeannie was extraordinarily pleasant and kind. She is the sort of person you hope to have as a neighbor. I note that I was not able to meet her as my plans changed and I was greeted by Kim who is delightful in her own right. Jeannie was very prompt and helpful in her responses to my inquiries. The house is quaint. Bed comfortable. Hosts gracious. Shared bathroom. Nice quiet neighborhood. Charlie is great. I'll be back.
Merci Jeannie et Kim pour votre accueil chaleureux et votre sympathie!
Tout était parfait et je me suis sentie comme dans ma propre maison.
A très bientôt ,
Thank you Jeannie and Kim for your warm welcome and your kindness.
Everything was perfect and I felt like I was at home.
See you soon,
Jeannie could not have been more welcoming, providing a very detailed description of her home and its amenities. She was also immensely supportive and adaptive after some travel snafus caused me to arrive late and without my suitcase. Jeannie provided a beautiful breakfast, with fresh fruit and wonderful coffee. Jeannie's cozy home is situated in a quiet neighborhood close to downtown Ann Arbor with open space on several sides with access to a walking trail. I particularly appreciated its close proximity to the University of Michigan.
Jeannie was great from the start. She was kind, warm, and definitely made the two of us feel welcome. She even stayed up late to make sure we got in okay and to give us the rundown on the house and our upstairs room. We loved Mickie and Charlie, their cat and dog. The bed was comfortable and the room was plenty warm enough with blankets and a small heater. If I had to say one thing negative it would be that the bathroom was downstairs and sharing with everyone was mildly inconvenient but she did everything she could to work around us and our schedule. I would highly recommend this location for anyone interviewing at the hospital or for anyone who wanted to visit Ann Arbor and have a great time!
Jeannie is a perfect hostess. She provided a key for us when our check in ran a little late and left post it notes so that we would know where everything was. I also loved meeting her sweet pets. Jeannie was definitely willing to provide helpful information about Ann Arbor and I really enjoyed talking with her! Would definitely recommend her to anyone visiting town!
Jeannie and Kim made me feel very welcome. Their home was like a home away from home. My room was cozy and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with various types of teas and coffee. The pets were very well behaved and lovable. Jeannie was nice enough to pick me up from the bus station and drop me off as well! The place was 5 minutes from the bus stop with connections to downtown Ann Arbor and the university, and since I was not driving, it made traveling very simple.

About the Host, Jeannie
Aside from being a book coach and an editor, my passion is connecting with new people. I have traveled a fair amount and been greatly blessed by the kindness of strangers who took me in under all sorts of circumstances. Now is my chance to "pay it forward." I am a foodie who loves to cook, read books and watch movies (some favorites include Ghandi, Contact, LOTR, Serenity and Amelie). And I love to dance. Above all, I believe in truth and kindness. And I really look forward to meeting you!
